July 17, 200520 yr thanx ianim so new i havent even been to the flight school yet - got 2004 this month - and im just trying to add on some scenery and planes before i domy biggest problem is after adding on scenery - with my file manager - it appears in my scenery library - but im not sure if im seeing default or add on sceneryis there any way of previewing your new scenery - or flying directly to itand another mystery - why do my planes sometimes veer off the runway on take offsorry - im lightyears behind you guysbut having funthanxrob
July 17, 200520 yr To install a scenery , copy the new(unzipped) senery folder to your Add-on scenery folder: C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFS9|Add-on Scenery. Start FS and go to the Settings page then the scenery library and click on Add Area. Browse to the Add-On scenery folder and find the scenery you just copied there. Click on it. FS will tell you need to restart to activate the scenery. Restart FS and the scenery should appear. If you have installed it properly, you will see FS build a new scenery database. I'd be happy to walk you through the process on Yahoo Messsenger if you have a mic. If you want help via voice, email me and I'll give you my Yahoo Id.As far as the veering off the runway goes, maybe it's due to the prop torque creating aysmmetric thrust causing your plane to yaw. You can play with the realism settings under you aircraft drop down in the menu bar. Not sure on this one though.Hope this helps.Adam

July 18, 200520 yr >i hate showing what an idiot i amNo need to feel that way, Rob. No matter how salty some of us may be, ALL of us were newbies at some point. Welcome to the awesome world of Flight Simulator, and welcome to Avsim. May your journey through both be pleasant, educational and satisfying.-JeremyThe Ozark DogfighterHappy Flying!

July 18, 200520 yr Hi Rob and welcome to the wondeful wordl of flight simming. As others have said don't be afraid to ask questions, we were all newbies once and as someone once said to me many years ago "The only stupid question is the one you didn't ask".Now to your scenery problem. If you place a BGL file in the Worldscenery folder then you will see that scenery but it won't appear in your scenery library because you are just adding a file to an existing scenery folder. You will see the scenery in flight sim though because FS looks in that folder.Normally add-on scenery comes with a scenery and texture folder, these need to be grouped under another folder, usually named after the scenery. If the scenery designer is thoughtful the zip file will come with everything ready to go so you just need to unzip it to the addon scenery folder in FS and then add it to the scenery library and activate it as mentioned in the other posts. For example, lets say you download some scenery for Frankfurt. If the zip file has been thoughtfully produced it will be called EDDF and will contain files with their paths so that BGL files will be in the scenery folder and BMP files in the texture folder. There may be other files, such as readme files with no folder. If you unzip this file and tick 'use folder names' in your unzipper, to somewhere temporary (and I suggest this is the safest way) you should see the following.tempeddf text files such as 'readme'tempeddfscenerytempeddftextureNow copy the whole 'eddf' folder to fsaddon sceneryStart FS and click on 'settings' then scenery library. Click 'add new area'.From the selection window find addon sceneryeddf and click on it. The title 'eddf' should automatically appear in the name field. You can change the name to something else if you wish. The click OK and you will get a warning that you have to shut FS down for the changes to take effect, so close FS and then restart it. You should now see 'Creating scenery database' and then FS will be ready for use.HTH
