July 21, 200520 yr BruceDoes this file work satisfactorily in FS9? I had it installed in FS2002, but have not tried it in the later sim as yet.Mark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP Fleet, DC-3 AirwaysTeam Member, MAAM-SIM[a href=http://www.swiremariners.com/cathayhk.html" target="_blank]http://www.paxship.com/maamlogo2.jpg[/a] _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
July 21, 200520 yr Paul,You could also try Gerrish Gray's replacement trees. They don't add to the number, but introduce a lot of undergrowth. Also, they're better looking than the default ones. Cheers,Keith
July 22, 200520 yr Mark, conifers.zip actually make the trees in FS9 look less dense. They worked great in FS2002 as the defaults were just one giant tree, but in FS9 they did the same approach as conifers.zip in having more than one tree per instance at many times, thus improving the look. The GG trees are a nice replacement with the undergrowth.I'm with you Paul, we need more trees!!! hopefully there will be just a tree slider in the next version, sparse, normal, dense, very dense and jungle! July 22, 200520 yr Thanks, Michael. I'm using Gerry's trees now and run with scenery maxed; things look pretty good so I'll leave things be!Mark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP Fleet, DC-3 AirwaysTeam Member, MAAM-SIM[a href=http://www.swiremariners.com/cathayhk.html" target="_blank]http://www.paxship.com/maamlogo2.jpg[/a] _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
July 22, 200520 yr Perhaps you could edit the generic textures' autogen in the World/Textures file using the Autogen Annotator on the Microsoft web site, but I'm not sure if the results you would get would be any good, and I don't know how to test this or else I would have done it already.Perhaps you could create specific trees/heights at the highest density setting for the ones that do not already have custom Autogen?
July 22, 200520 yr FS9 is limited to a max of 600 autogen objects (both buildings and trees) per 1km tile and is controlled via the autogen slider in the Display Settings | Scenery. Look for this to be increased in the future.
July 22, 200520 yr Yes, we definitely need a tree addon. I tried everything but so far there is no method that would result in significant increase of tree density. This is one area that waits for some breakthrough.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_beta_member.jpg Michael J.
July 22, 200520 yr Separate modelling of `tree` and `forest` would be a good start - a tree is an object, so a forest could be a single object also.lateral thinking here (I'm no scenery designer) - perhaps some of the default autogen structures could be converted to forests? The sim doesn't care whether a `house` is a house or a tree.Has anyone ever come up with forest as aftermarket scenery addon?. with the tools available now, it should be possible to place forests into scenery packages as standalone .bgl's shouldn't it?And the tiles that represent forests in the sim. Do they have to be 2-dimensional or is it possible to raise them relative to the tiles around them to give the illusion of height?Allcott
July 22, 200520 yr >Separate modelling of `tree` and `forest` would be a good>start - a tree is an object, so a forest could be a single>object also. You are absolutely correct. I believe Allen K. who gave us UT scenery is contemplating such a project. Michael J. Michael J.
July 23, 200520 yr He is only contemplating - nothing definite. I just hope to clarify before any rumors take off.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_beta_member.jpg Michael J.
