July 8, 201510 yr Hi everyone, I recently thought of an a free visually realistic weapon "idea" for FSX. I have CaptainSim's Weapon for FSX, but it gets a bit boring after a while because there is no external visual model. Weapons are created in thin air only when you drop them, and they are not modeled with the aircraft so you cannot see them attached to hard points. Since I am not an aircraft developer, and I have no experience programming and coding for FSX (or any other sim), I cannot do this, but I want to put my idea in the open in case someone decides to do it. Anyways, here is my idea (if somebody chooses to try to make it). First, there is a jet or bomber with external hard points. There are weapons such as bombs connected to the hard points of the plane for visual effects (This plane has to be made so the INOP weapon models on the wings can be moved). We can install the freeware weapon pack (the one with the US and British weapons) to the aircraft, and make the point where the weapon drops at the hard point location. This way when Shift+D is pressed to drop the bombs or missiles, they form and drop from the hard points. At the same time, the bombs that were attached to the plane (not from the weapon mod) move really fast into the body of the plane or somewhere far away so we cannot see anymore, and we cannot see it move away. I think this part wouldn't be too hard to code. Because spoilers and flaps and gear can move in any FSX model, I think we can make other parts move too. But again, I am not at all an expert. As a result of this, it will appear as if the bomb actually disconnected from the airplane model and fell instead of it being created out of thin air and dropping. This would add an external visual model for weapons which would make it awesome since we can actually see the weapons being released. Please let me know if this is possible. Thanks!
July 8, 201510 yr Moderator I think what your looking for has already been done by VRS and is called TacPack, here's the link to the product -> http://www.vrsimulations.com/tacpack.htm However, the aircraft that you want to add the weapons to must be TacPack compatible, although a lot of aftermarket aircraft are now TacPack compatible. July 9, 201510 yr I bought the VRS TacPak and the F-18 as a package deal saving about five bucks in doing so. If you want realism then that's what you want. Very realistic.
