Intermittent Latency in Mouse and Keyboard Input

Featured Replies

I don't quite know which may be the proper forum for this.  Today, for the first time in many years, my computer developed a slight, random, intermittent latency in keyboard input and mouse movement and clicks.  Its as if the cursor "sticks" or the scroll wheel doesn't scroll or the clicks don't register.  Last a second or a few seconds, but is maddening to say the least.  I have not seen this on any computer an many years, now inexplicably, this has started,  I tried a system restore for several prior dates, but it still happens.  I did not install any software that I am aware of.

In searching the web the indications are that something is using an inordinate amount of cpu resources, but nothing seems to be spiking on task manager.  The fix has always been a complete wipe and reinstall.....this hs not happened in a long, long time.

Have an i7-4770 16bg ram, all SSD's, twin Zotac 980GTX's, MSI Z97 Gaming 7 MoBo.  All has worked flawlessly unitl now.  I Fly P3D 2.5 and am about to wipe FSX as I haven't flown in FSX since before Christmas.

Any thoughts or similar experiences would be appreciated.

I've been having mouse freezes for a few months now. Sometimes the LED s on my mouse turn off. Not sure if that's happening to you.

Try reinstalling your USB drivers?

You might want to look for latency check tools:

dpclat.exe and the other one Latencymon. Both available on the web.

Latencymon can also identify the cause of the spikes in latency.

I recently troubleshot a latency issue that I had and was able to solve it knowing which software caused it.
