August 10, 201510 yr I was wondering if anyone knows of any updates for FSX that will update most or all airports and airways. I know you can buy payware airports, but I'm not sure if they are all up to date. Specifically I would like to get Chicago O'Hare updated so that it has the new runways 28/10. If it is also possible I would like to update the airways (vor, star, etc) although it isn't necessary.

August 11, 201510 yr There is no global package of airport updates that I'm aware of so the only choice seems to be to search libraries to update the specific airports you're interested in, or edit them yourself using ADE. ADE can also update instrument approaches but most airport updates don't seem to include updated approaches. To use current airways and charts/procedures I think your best bet is to use addon avionics and flight planners that work with nav data from Navigraph or Aerosoft. For ATC, some addon ATC products can use up to date nav data. If you use default ATC then you can export from an addon flight planner to FSX, but default ATC will still use default nav data for many things such as approach procedures, control center boundaries etc. You can get updates for navaids and magvar data from this site: http://www.aero.sors.fr/ Barry Friedman
August 11, 201510 yr You can get updates for navaids and magvar data from this site: http://www.aero.sors.fr/ As Barry notes, this is the best way to update enroute navaids - but be sure to read the caveats on the site. Among other things, updating navaids breaks the FSX flightplanner. Most users who want up to date navaids don't care as they're typically using more real-world tools for flightplanning anyway, but it is something to be aware of. Scott
August 11, 201510 yr Yes I agree, the reason to update magvar/navaids to to make your gauge readings match properly with updated charts or flight plans made with an up to date addon flight planner. If you use the built-in flight planner or map with these updates it can cause CTD for example if you turn on airway display. Barry Friedman
