ILS Approach For KBOS

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone!I'm using George Grimshaw's fantastic Boston Logan 1.1 with FS2004.ATC always gives me an ILS rwy 4R approach for KBOS. The only problem is there's no ILS frequency for 4R listed in map view? How do I get the ILS freq? Departures from KBOS and AI traffic are not a problem.I've already redownloaded the scenery and re-installed/re-activated the scenery. I placed the KBOS afcad in my addon scenery/scenery folder.Any ideas? Thanks for your help!-Tom

Thank-you so much for the website and the approach chart for 4R at KBOS!!! I just nailed my first ILS approach to KBOS in a Dreamwings Erj 170!:-)I really appreciate your help!-Tom

Hi Tom,Like yourself, I've also loaded George Grimshaw's outstanding Boston V1.1 scenery, and have encountered the ILS problems as well. Within FsNavigator 4.6, there are no ILS' created when building the FSNAV database. I have read the installation instructions, and have noted that the new AFCAD2 file should be placed in the Addon Scenery/scenery folder; but I am truly wondering if that is correct. I'm considering putting that file into the scenery folder within the Boston folder, but was wondering if anyone else has experienced this ILS issue with Boston Ver. 1.1.Thanks for any info that might be provided.orbmis

Hey guys,I *think* it does fix the fsnav problem if you move the afcad from addon scenery to the main Bostonscenery folder. After that is done, rebuild the FSnav database & it should show the ILS.Cheers,George

Hi George,Thanks for the quick response. Just to make sure though, with your 'suggestion' of moving the AF2CAD file, will those afcad functions & AI traffic work properly with the file moved? Thanks Again!orbmis

Hi George & Orbmis,I don't use FsNav but I've kept all of my AF2CAD files in the addon scenery/scenery folder. Even scenery like FreeFlow Florida which uses an installer puts the AF2CADs in the addon scenery/scenery folder. The only problem I ever had with approaches to addon scenery was not being able to find the ILS freq for the runway assigned by ATC. The frequency wasn't listed in map view. All of my AI traffic has always worked great.Since the reply from "737rated", I've made 5 successful approaches to KBOS.About moving the AF2CAD file...there's only one way to find out. Move it and see what happens!Good luck,Tom

Yep. Afcad works fine in Boston Scenery folder.I should have placed it in there in the first place. I just didn't know any better at the time :)Hope it helps, george

It's just easier to find duplicated AF2s if they're all in the same folder. Utilities like ScanAFD, which search all active (or inactive for that matter) scenery folders kind of make it a moot point. AF2s will work where ever you put them, just make sure you don't have two for the same airport...CTDs may result.Best,sg
