FSX Scenery Config Editor

Recommended Posts

If not done already then I would check Program Data\Microsoft\FSX.

There is a scenery.cfg file there, which contains the scenery paths for FSX if you had FSX installed before Steam.

If you had FSX previously installed, but are not running a 'dual' installation of FSX:MS and FSX:SE, then it's possible that you have some cases of where you have both FSX and FSX- folders.

If that's the case then without doing a through search and delete of all FSX folders, files, etc.  you might want to try SCE in FSX-SE Co-Exsistence Mode.

If you elect to do that go into: Edit-> Preference and select 'FSX-SE Co-Existence Mode'.  Also make sure that you click on the 'FSX-SE Directory' button and have SCE locate the FSX: SE scenery.cfg.

Once there you're kinda on your own because I don't have both.

However, if this were my comptuter and I was committed to FSX: SE and not planning on using FSX: MS.  Then I would unintall FSX:SE, using something like the free version of Revo unintaller, then   go the 'search and delete route' for all remaining FSX and FSX-SE folders and files.

I would then do a clean install of FSX-SE so that it creates "FSX" folders instead of "FSX-SE".

Yes, it's a bit painful, but you'll have a lot less future issues like one this to deal with.
