FSX STEAM (installation Path)

Featured Replies

Hello

I am installing FS STEAM.  When I install shall I accept the default path from within STEAM or should I install it to C:\FSX (if it will allow me )

How do I select a different path from within STEAM, it appears to only allow the default path?

Go default, this way all of the installers will work properly.  But you might want to see what others have to say before you install.

Hi, Clive and Mark,

There is a way to do it.  I don't remember the exact procedure.  You probably cannot install FSX in the top level -- it has to be in something like Steam Library/steamapps/Common .  But I do have Steam Library installed at the top level of one of my disk drives.  So FSX isn't in a programs folder, as PMDG and others recommend.

Mark,  I think most installation problems come from either a dual install, where Steam names several important folders differently, or else from the registry not pointing to the correct location (due to a previous FSX Box/MS install).  I don't see anything to gain by installing FSX Steam in a programs folder; it will have the same problems that FSX Box has in a programs folder.

I have a dual install and put both on my F drive so you can change it in steam.
