Transponder selection in 744 V2 and others

Featured Replies

Hi chaps,

This isn't a request so much as a question about the mechanics behind the PMDG programming and designing. Would it be feasible to have a choice of transponder panels in forthcoming PMDG aircraft, in the same way that we can choose the supernumerary signs or standby flight instruments in the 777? I'm just aware that not all 777s, for example, have the particular Gables transponder modeled in the PMDG  version. Some have the Bendix one, some have the keypad version etc. Would changing panels require complicated changes in the system logic or would it, in theory, be possible to have an optio to change them in the PMDG OPTIONS page? Just to add to the realism of our ability to configure the PMDG aircraft to look like their particular real-world counterparts.

It would be nice to have the option but it's not that high a priority if resources are limited. If there has to be only one panel my preference would be for the keypad version. Both for ease of use and to make a change from the NGX and 777.

No I agree I just thought it would be really nice if it were as straightforward as, say, changing the pax signs.

If you are really interested in this the MD-11 has the keypad version. No knobs to turn. Just key the code into the transponder. Its only $59.99 for FSX or FS9 or get both in a combo package for $89.99. Such a deal.
