October 10, 201510 yr Hi After quite sometime i thought id post here for help as im not sure what more to do anymore. I switched sometime back from DX9 to DX10 using the FSX DX10 Scenery Fixer tool. Although ever since the change ive been experiencing not so good looking water textures as I used to experience with DX9. I have enabled DX10 Wave Animation on the REX 4 Texture Direct Settings too still with not luck. Below are a few images of how water textures looked on DX9 and then on DX10. Also need to mention that if im flying towards the sun on DX10 mode i can clearly and properly see wave animations and textures at lower altitudes. But when i climb higher this seems to go off as well. on DX9 i did not experience this Hope someone could help and give some info on what could be done?Below are some screenshots which would explain what im experiencing on DX10 and how it looked on DX9 DX10 - at higher altitudes still doesnt look good plus it appears static without wave animation Here are some shots taken with DX9 Mode Appreciate some help with fixing this Regards Aaqib Afzal
October 11, 201510 yr Commercial Member I was hoping someone else might reply. You could ask the same question on the REX forum. Looking at the picture I don't see much wrong and there are no comparison shots to look at. The two DX9 pictures show a tropical water texture and (I am totally sure here) a sparkling water texture. The DX10 shots seem to show a solid colour water texture, with I think the sky refection turned down. In both DX9 and DX10 the sea is a single base texture to which the sky colour is blended and then bump maps used to set the amount of light reflection off the water from the sun. These tend to highlight the 3d nature of the bump map "surface" when looking towards the sun (and at lower altitudes). There should be no real difference in DX9 and DX10 except that the DX10 bump maps are finer. DX10 adds whitecaps but these only appear when the wind strengthens you need a F4 as a minimum, and better a F5 to see this. Looking away from the sun then unless its windy in DX10 you should see the base texture which is what you will see in DX9 as well. My FSX Analysis Blog
