So tweaks do work in P3DV3

Featured Replies

I know the current train of thought is that tweaks don't help but Fibertime fraction set at .1 does. In the Carenado Phenom 300 before I added the tweak I got about 35 fps on the ground after the tweak I get between 44-50 fps.

Yes, but do your textures get loaded in time still...? No one ever said tweaks don't work: the question is if you benefit from them.

I am NOT touching the main CFG file. I've added a few things to NVI because it helps 3rd party stuff look better. I would highly recommend leaving the main cfg alone and do your tweaks inside the sim.

Is it really worth the FPS increase is my question? Going from 35 to 44 seems a bit pointless specially because the carenado phenom is on the higher side of FPS hog. Not to mention you are just trading an already smooth experience for textures that will take longer to load taking the realsim away. Either way I respect your intent and obviously everyone has their own experience. But I'm not touching my CFG. For the first time I think we can finally play with out constantly tweaking thanks to LM

I've never had an issue with textures loading in P3Dv2 even when I ran regular 7200rpm HDD's and this tweak. Now I have a dedicated P3DV3 SSD and have no issues. I don't like photo real scenery(to flat without autogen) so I have always used orbx textures,so that could be why I never run into issues. I also have Hyper-threading enabled on my 4790k and I've found that it really helps speed up texture loading

You can't really hurt anything by messing with the CFG if a tweak messes somthing up just delete the.cfg and let the sim rebuild it.

It helps for when I'm flying out of Seattle with Orbx PNW yes I shoe horned into V3. Before the tweak I was in the mid teens and now I'm in the mid 20s so in certin areas a few FPS is well worth the risk.
