P3d v3 black screen during long haul flight

Featured Replies

Hi guys

So I was on flight from Vancouver fsdt to yssy fly yampa

Must say p3d v3 is amazing fps are smooth and sim is stable

Apart from a black screen around half way through flight with aircraft sounds on

Now I just updated to the new driver 358.50 ,thinking that may be the issue

I am running a 4790k non oc

2xgtx titans sc sli

16gb ram

2x256 gb ssd samsung pro

850wpsu corsair

H110 water cooler

Will test again today with new driver see if that helps

Anyways any help is appreciated

Thanks

Mike

Black screen with audio running is almost always a video driver issue.

Cheers

Thanks mate

damn those drivers what's waste of a great flight

Anyways hope the new driver will be ok.

Cheers

Mike

Are you entirely sure it's not power management? Usually on long haul you don't sit at the computer the whole time. My suspicion would be that it didn't detect any activity for a while and turned off the display and was unable to resume properly.

Yes good call slayer

Will change settings for that also

Slayer sorry are referring to power management in win 7?

I have that set to never sleep and high performance mode

I have updated drivers and tried the flight again got black screen and then p3d exe error

I think maybe I need to turn off power management through tv settings

Correct me if I am wrong thanks

That cured the issue for me back to fsx times.

Yes, and also your video driver power management (Nvidia : change from adaptative to maximum in the display driver settings).

Thank you

And what about tv power management turning off on its own ?

Bc I did another flight and this time it froze got a p3d exe error and black screen

If your using a TV, that shouldn't trigger a crash , but I guess anything is possible. I would imagine if the TV detected no video signal for a while it may go black on power management, but that would be a result of the video card or driver crashing and not having any output for a while.

Try turning your superclock Titans down in clock speed a bit. I had a superclock 680 that started acting up I looked up what  a default 680 was clocked at and set it with EVGA precision, the problem of  " driver stopped responding" and black screen crashes went away. It was pain to figure out which of them was the faulty one. First had to disable SLI then remove a card and test against only 1 card to see which one would fail. You may need to try this as well if you've already tried upgrade and downgrades of drivers.

Thank you slayer will try your suggestions

I will also run sfc scan

But I think it may be my GPUs are running hot I haven't turned up my fans they are sitting on default setting

Anyways will report back

Thanks
