Great area.

Cheers, Rob.

Hey Rob,

Said it before a joy to see it run so well....just shows what a good system can do with it...thanks for sharing

All the best

Mark

Yes pretty cool alright.     The lights at 1.43 look so real.  Thanks for posting

Hi Rob,

I was just wondering what graphics settings you use for night flights such as this one, and whether they differ from what you use in the daytime. This is.a beautiful night flight.

Thanks,

Robert

That answer will leave you feeling sad

Rob managed to stuff Nasa into a box

I'm mostly interested in the color settings (HDR, nVidia Control Panel, etc.,) and not the performance settings, so I think I'll be able to handle it.

Hi Robert,

In the YouTube video description is the link to the graphics settings including the HDR settings ... here is the link in case you missed it: http://www.robainscough.com/P3DV3_Settings_Medium.html

I find I don't need a different HDR Day/Night setting in V3 - HDR is configurable on the fly in V3.  Environment is plenty dark even with a moon, but as  you move towards midnight and no moon it can be very dark.

Not really, running single GPU for P3D (Titan X) and my 3DMark Firestrike is only 300 points above yours Elaine (non-SLI).  In P3D SLI is really only good for use with SGSS AA - which I don't normally use (only for less populated areas and GA flights).

Cheers, Rob.

Rob, thanks for letting me know that you're using a single HDR setting for both day and night. I tried it at Ibiza and was very satisfied. I'd previously thought a single setting wouldn't work, but this is clearly not the case.

I thought I'd also let you know that your Medium settings as a whole are working extremely well for me in Europe with Orbx Global and openLC EU, FS Global, the PMDG 737, Opus weather, REX, MyTraffic 6, and a slew of payware airports - and I'm running a lowly i7 4790K overclocked to 4.7 and an overclocked nVidia 980 with a 55 inch 4K monitor. More than adequate frames and no OOMs. I'm very, very, very happy. Thanks so much for posting these settings. I'm fearful, however, that once Orbx Vector is released, some dialing down may be necessary. But we'll see.

In v2.5 you would need two different HDR sets but in V3 it's not needed.  Glad you are enjoying V3, after I found HT OFF to free up an additional 500MB VAS, I can't OOM P3D at all ... I can fly anywhere at anytime using any number of add-ons (I use A lot) and fly all day, night, dawn ... VAS usage is so good now that I've stopped monitoring it.

Cheers, Rob.

For me the VAS key was adding AffinityMask=254 to my HT On setup. Made all the difference in the world.

One day I might try HT off. I was reluctant to do so now because I had a difficult time overclocking my chip, and wound up using the Asus auto program that did better than anything I could accomplish manually. I'm not able to save these automatic overclock settings, or indeed even see what they are, and am afraid that if I were to change the HT setting I might upset the overclock. So I'm leaving it alone for now.

Hi Robert,

As Steve suggested, HT OFF will allow for slightly higher overclocking but with very small hit in memory bandwidth vs. HT ON which tends to improve overall memory throughput.

My SiSoftware Sandra 2015:

CPU: 5960X

4.375 GHz HT ON - 59.3 GB/s

4.375 GHz HT OFF - 58.1 GB/s

4.625 GHz HT OFF - 61.1 GB/s

4.625 GHz HT ON - N/A (not stable)

I can't run at 4.625 GHz with HT ON and be stable at reasonable voltage levels using XMP memory profile and BCLK 125MHz, but no problems running at 4.625 GHz with HT OFF with very good thermal temps (peak 113 F on CPU, 90 F VRM, 87 F PCH, case temp 75F, ambient 74 F) under load.

But if you are happy with what you have, stay with it, no sense in changing.  I was happy with what I had, but this HT OFF discovery has really made me that much more happier. :)

Cheers, Rob.
