August 24, 200520 yr Came across some great new photograhic surface textures on FSFreeware.com (sorry AVSIM), hope you don't mind me giving the link but they really are worth trying.Search for "airland1.zip" on http://www.fsfreeware.com/dcd/New/Regards,Stuart Hyett
August 24, 200520 yr Yeah, I grabbed these over the weekend too, from simviation or flightsim I think. Larger file size, but I actually see BETTTER frame rates than with the previous smaller ones. They are really, really good.Go figure!Allcott

August 25, 200520 yr Sweeeet. Best looking runway textures Ive seen. No noticable fps drop on my high end rig running too many things to list here.
August 25, 200520 yr >What a joke site that place is!!!! I love how they have a screenshot of Bill Lyons' Luscombe with the file for his Tri-Pacer. :D Interesting textures, though.
August 25, 200520 yr >What a joke site that place is!!!! Why, Timest? Please qualify if you must denigrate.FSFreeware is run by Raimondo Taburet, who has contributed enormously to the FS hobby with his freeware work over the years. He also produces payware efforts these days too, and good for him. But having used FSFreeware for many years and found it useful and interesting, I am fascinated to know why I should now laugh at it.Awaiting yours, sir.Mark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP Fleet, DC-3 AirwaysTeam Member, MAAM-SIM[a href=http://www.swiremariners.com/cathayhk.html" target="_blank]http://www.paxship.com/maamlogo2.jpg[/a] _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
August 25, 200520 yr Maybe so Mark, but `FSFreeware` you have to PAY for? In the UK, Trading Standards would be interested! Anyway, you can appreciate the freeware while still thinking the site is a mess. Allcott
August 25, 200520 yr Commercial Member Very well said Alcott.RegardsTim Tim FuchsManaging PartnerREX SIMULATIONS website: www.rexsimulations.comsupport: www.rexaxis.com
August 25, 200520 yr Raimondo's coastlines (roads and waters) are extraordinary!Simple as that!http://web.mit.edu/invent/www/ima/images/i...dy/ma_intro.jpg
August 25, 200520 yr Author is Nazim Ali Patel also to be found on fsplanetand/or flightsim.com (airland1.zip)And the results are reasonable as I might say:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/125422.jpgAll the best,Rob "Holland&Holland" de Vries http://www.emotipad.com/emoticons/Flying.gif"To go up, pull the stick back. August 25, 200520 yr You're right in that, Allcott; now that Ray has added payware offerings, it's about time he changed the name! However, don't go over the top about it; there is no deception about what is and what isn't freeware on Ray's site. All I posted for was to seek Timest's reasons for attacking the site is his one-liner, being a friend of Ray's; I suppose I'm just bored with people throwing out insults in these forums without explaining their reasons. Anyway, he appears to agree with what you said yourself, so we'll leave it at that!Mark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP Fleet, DC-3 AirwaysTeam Member, MAAM-SIM[a href=http://www.swiremariners.com/cathayhk.html" target="_blank]http://www.paxship.com/maamlogo2.jpg[/a] _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
August 25, 200520 yr hmmmmsearch for airland1.zip on fsfreeware.com finds nothing... Flightsim.com lists it as available, but when clicking download, error comes up saying file not found.
August 26, 200520 yr You have to search for them in the correct search box at the FS Freeware site..."Resource URL" box NOT the "Resource Name" box and you will then find the file.Scott :-)
August 26, 200520 yr Thank You Scott,Thats the answer. Now have this elusive program, for me anyway. Great site, never seen so much stuff!Of course all hidden away for the unwary! HAVE FUN VIN
