MSE2 and X-Plane?

Featured Replies

Not quite, but same exact source that MegasceneryEarth used.

-Using g2xpl to download USGS orthophotos

-Just north of Spokane Washington

Looks great!  I have always wanted to purchase g2xpl, but am not sure I could figure how to use it. Do you find it difficult?

No, it's a plugin.  Start it in x-plane, and it will pause and load the textures.  You have to select what resolution and map service you want to use, but they are already built in.  So just select say Bing or USGS and when done it puts the scenery in your Custom Scenery folder.

USGS has 1 meter coverage for the entire USA, so given enough time and hard space, you can basically have MSE2 for X-plane.

USGS also has a substantial area in 1 foot (50cm) coverage as well.

Some more over here where I'm using it with Vermont:

Beautiful shot!....explore the real world!

What the heck, I think I'll just post images from some of the work I've been doing.  The deal is to try and get some USA scenery into x-plane regional or statewide.  So far Vermont is done.

Here's Burlington, Vermont.

-70+ custom buildings in Burlington.

-1 meter Bing map photoscenery

-Accurate full state of Vermont tree coverage

-Full state building coverage (I'll post other pics as well)

Great looking Photo scenery.  Think I will make a donation to G2xpl.

Good idea, but there is another coming out of alpha (soon I think) called ortho4xp.  It has some additional features and some great water masking unlike anything you've ever seen before.  I think would be free or donationware, but it's going to be a bit more friendly to use from what I can tell.

If you need help with g2xpl feel free to ask.

BTW, if anyone wants to see how "megascenery" X-Plane compares to MegasceneryEarth FSX, let me know.  I can whip up a piece of scenery in the USA in about an hour or so.

Maybe it is just me or my computer settings, but some of these otherwise great shots are a bit too dark

I like it dark.  Gamma set to 1.3.

Just awesome shots. Nice job!
