August 26, 200520 yr Hello everyone. I recently installed Fly Tampa SeaTac, TNCM, and carribbean add on scenery. I had to delete all of them due to performance. However now CTD all the time!! Sometimes right to the desktop, or MS error. The latest being weather.dll. I NEVER had this until I put these sceneries in. Now that they are gone. What could be causing this? I am so furious I have already busted two keyboards smashing them in frustration. It took me over 1 year to get my sim smooth, not to mention TONS of add on aircraft and now I can't fly for more that a few minutes if that!!!!! Please help me if you know what this is. I don't think it was the Fly tampa as that was not freeware. Where are the gremlins in my PC. I want to kill them. Thanks in advance for you help. Best regards, Jeff I am on Win2000pro operating system.
August 26, 200520 yr Hi,They are not in your keyboards! I know it's frustrating, but you need to remain calm to solve any problem.1. Move out your fs9.cfg and let FS04 build a new one.2. How did you uninstall? By just deleting files? Did any of these create backup texture folders that need to be put back into place?3. The weather.dll error may or may not be related to your Renter to Texture setting in FS04.4. Keep track of all your MS errors and post them. Maybe there will be a pattern.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
August 26, 200520 yr Author Hey Jim, thanks for the info. When I deleted the files for fly tampa, I removed from the add-on scenery list and deleted the folder. same with the others. I did not see any backup files or uninstall exe's with them. I also have that sim1dll crack installed, but I don't think that will cause this as it did not happen until now. I had this file for about two weeks. I am just so angry this is happening, as I dread having to do a reinstall. I have done the fs 9 rebuild. I do that frequently if performance drops for any reason. I don't enjoy too many things in life, and this is one of them. I feel lost without it, I really do. I just wish I had left the system alone, other than add on aircraft and payware only scenery. I am done with freeware for now until I get things working again. I will leave my keyboards alone now as they run $20.00 a pop! I just got so worked up in disbelief. It is not my style to lose my temper like that. I will try anything I have to. Best regards, Jeff
August 26, 200520 yr Did you happen to disable "render to texture" in the hardware section of your display settings? If so turn it back on.XP Home SP2Asus P4P800-SE Intel 3.0GHZDDR 400 D/C 4x512MBLeadtek 6800GT 256MB (77.72)SB AudigyCH Products Yoke/Pedals USBSee you in the fence...CYYZ Al Stiff
August 26, 200520 yr Author Actually, I've had it off for the longest time until I installed FS Enviroment with the dxt clouds enabled, then I had to use it. At this present time, I have dxt clouds off and render to texture off as it does affect my performance with studdering for some reason. OK, check this out...I saw in my main folder, Scenery.old file dated 08/21/05, so I replaced the current one with that one, and of course renamed it scenery.cfg. Then I just tried a flight from KSAN to KLAS in the PMDG737NG and flawless. Then I returned to KSAN in the CRJ700 by feelthere (had CTD's in this plane and ERJ145) and again, no problems. However my CTD problem was happening in Seattle and at KPVD in Rhode Island. BTW, That is great scenery by Flightzone. The CTD's were happening after takeoff for the most part. Anyway, I have to try those areas again and see. I never changed a thing at KPVD,so why I was having problems there, I don't know. I only had changes in the Seattle area and the carribeean. I wonder if the Scenery.CFG can cause a CTD? If so, maybe it is ok now. I hope. I will try over the weekend in the troubled areas. Pray for my success. I hate when FS9 causes these problems as they are so hard to identify sometimes. The problem is, I changed more than one thing the past few days, and that makes it very challenging to trouble shoot. Sorry for rambling on, I just want to give as much info as I can to make it easier for others to help. Best regards, Jeff
August 26, 200520 yr I know how you feel.Try this.Go to Scenery in your main FS9 folder and replace the "World" folder with a fresh one.I made backups of all important FS files I 'm not quit sure where you would find this folder on the CD's if you have not made any backups.I had CTD immediately after installing a freeware scenery for Princess Julianna Airport. This fixed it for me.It seems that upon activating it within FS it must have relpaced or deleted some files in that folder.Hope it works for you too.Good luck
August 26, 200520 yr Author Thanks for the tip. I will explore the CD's. The only concern I have is, won't doing this effect my KPVD Rhode Island and AEU packages? Best regards, JeffEDIT: I see it on disc#4 Is it the scenery folder with 96BGL files and another with texure files? I compared to my installation and there are way more bgl files on the CD than on my PC. I have to keep looking I guess.
