France VFR French Riviera

Featured Replies

A long shot perhaps... I have Simwings quite old France1 airports along the Riviera, and also Aerosoft's Monaco 2005.

Has anyone made these co-exist with France VFR along the same coast?

Yes, I have France VFR Riviera and Marseilles, Nice, but not Monaco 2005. FranceVFR sceneries include a re-make of all the default airports in the region covered by the scenery. The trick is to remember to remove not only the AFCAD but all the buildings etc. for whichever airport you are replacing. All the FranceVFR "default" airport .bgl's and their buildings etc. include the ICAO code in the filename but they can be scattered around in the Scenery file so be VERY thorough. Here's an example:

AF2_LFML.bgl

flt_LFML.bgl

obj_LFML.bgl

tax_LFML.bgl

Thanks for the response, I'll have a think about this some more...

I'd be loathe to lose the Aerosoft Monaco as it is a good scenery.

But disabling the photoreal bit covering it in France VFR, might be too hard.

No need, just disable the francevfr Monaco files and move Aerosoft Monaco to a layer above francevfr.

I have the Aerosoft LFMN Nice scenery and France VFR Riviera and they are perfect together. It's been a long time since I installed them so I don't remember exactly which files I had to remove from the France VFR (if any) but I don't think it was difficult and the results are awesome! One of my favorite destinations. I would definitely encourage you to go for it!

As I recall the major difficulties doing this merge was trying to get it to work properly with UT Europe.  Double coast lines is the result if you don't remove some of the VFR France files.  It has been a long time but I believe the UT forum or VFR France forums addressed the subject.

Well I bit the bullet and bought Riviera and Jetset Riviera (not quite sure what that is actually) and ran their (eeks!) fully automatic executable installers into my FS9.

I had declared all existing sceneries from France 1 and Monaco 2005 "FALSE" and had a look.

As with everything Mediterranean, I expected some issues.

There was a Sicilian scenery I recall, that completely loused up most of Europe, changing as it did, things in the \Scenery\Eurw folder.

Sure enough, I have a coastline made up of large squares, although the airports seem to be in place.

There are no less than a dozen backups in that Eurw folder, made by various installs, Italian mostly.

This could take a while...

Sorry mate! It was ages ago that I did the merge but truly don't recall any issues so hopefully you'll get it sorted out quickly. If it helps, the results will be very pleasing... France VFR are among the best quality addons I have ever had in FS9 - I have several of their regions and they are absolutely fantastic...

I am already a convert  , and have all the other France VFR stuff.

For those who are not yet converted, look at this Real vs Sim shot of St Girons, by way of example:

I held off getting the Riviera because I fully expected clashes with other sceneries!

Now it will only be a question of slogging through all the possibles, removing and putting back bit by bit.

Any advice will of course be gratefully accepted... I will report back once solved.
