Need help with tutorial #2,page 24

Type EHAM into the scratchpad and line select it into LSK 2L.
This gives us the coordinates for the airport’s center at LSK 2R.
Notice the ENTER IRS POSITION message in the scratchpad. We now
need to give the IRSes our current position to align on. There are
several acceptable ways of doing this including using the airport’s
center coordinates from this page, the airplane’s current GPS
coordinates and getting the gate’s coordinates from the airport’s charts
and typing them in manually. In this instance we’ll use the GPS position
as it’s more accurate than using the center of the airport

My problems is : how can I type in the coordinates manually ??

There is a keypad next to the IRS on the overhead. Is the GPS not acurate enough?  I don't think you use the CDU, POS INIT page. Not typing it anyway.

Just select one of the gps positions with the scratch pad on page two.

Thanks.I think you missed my point as I want to know how to enter the coordinates manually and not using the GPS

Hello,

Just type the coordinates you want to use for your position in the scratchpad using the keyboard of the FMS in the format as displayed in the FMS.

I'm not home so I cannot check that but it should be something like:

XDDMM.MYDDDMM.M where:

X= N or S

Y= E or W

D= Degrees

M= Minutes

Pay attention that for the longitude you need to enter three digit for the degrees. If you longitude is less than 100 deg E or W, then you have to enter a 0 before the two other digits.

Then once you have finished typing your position, just click on the RSK6.
