Lear 35 OOM issue

Featured Replies

By the by, I did hear back from Flysimware on my ticket regarding this and they are now looking into the possiblity of a memory leak. So I'm back to "staying with the program" (guess I was a little frustrated earlier - sorry about that  ). I do think their customer support is very good, and it's appreciated. One can put up with quite a bit if one knows the developer isn't abandoning them. I'm now pretty confident this will get sorted out.

  • Can we keep this on topic please. Read e.g. AirdailyX for news regarding the relaese. It is of poor taste to ask about releases of other developers in a Flysimware forum in a support thread.

I agree JYW it can be a dealbreaker  furthermore some people are very relunctant(we saw that on AirDailyX recently)to buy Flysimware products ! Too bad the plane is just fantastic! I'm gonna make

I have installed FSUIPC  logging utility and started a topic where i get help. I agree the dimmers would not be the issue that your having but a XML event that is active 24/7. Once i have info to share i will post it here as in the past i had a friend look for these gauges and only found 1. So let's see what happens on the lear. It only takes 1 code to cause issues.

Thank you for looking into this issue, i understand that all it take is one dot in the wrong place to screw up everything. I am very excited about this plane and am looking forward to many years of flying it. I'm happy to see a company willing to be involved with support. There are too many developers in this hobby that could care less, you guys are bringing back my excitement to be part of the flight sim society. I only had time to test 1 flight tonight and i chose the A2a 182 with the GTN from F1 , did the exact same flight as the lear and had Zero issues with memory. I ran out of time and will revisit the lear with light dimmer fix tmrw. My opinion is still with a leak of some kind.

Excuse the poor writing, it was done on a dumb phone.

Ok, Just did a test. Same everything for both flights except the aircraft. Used the Lear 35 1.1 with 5 position dimmers. Got the memory beeper.

Realair Duke V2 Turbine Same flight and then spawned into airports all over my ORBX areas. NO memory beeper.

Then, i rebooted again. Got in the Majestic Dash 8.... Did the same thing as the lear and got no memory warn beeper. Also started spawning all over the world at ORBX areas. No issues.

Jumped in Lear at KPDX moved to 2 airports in the same ORBX area. Instant Memory alarm within 30 seconds.

OK... Then i installed the new panel dimming mod. I was not able to get the memory beeper to come on with this installed and tested with the same conditions.

BUT, The memory usage was still right below the warning the entire time, so this plane is still using LOTS of memory when compared to some of the other vendors aircraft.

The panel dimming to just On/Off does make this plane flyable on my system from what i can see tonight.  I thank Flysimware for this but still think there is another issue due to the large amount of memory being used. Now that i can fly this bird i will do some proper flights with it and see how it goes from here.

There are 17 events that are flooding. The hardest one to fix is the fuel selectors since i can't just add a tag asking if it's off but rather have to ask if it's in any of the other 3 locations. And for the aircraft load i have to also add more coding to make sure the fuel selector is in the right position based on the fuel. Took an hour and it no longer shows up on the window log. The others should be easier to fix. I am not sure code flooding causes high VAS usage. Maybe somebody know the answer to this question but we want to fix the flooding as i know it hurts online servers. Let's hope this fix works for both issues.

Excellent find! Thats great info. Ill see

If i can find some info on the issue. Im guessing the flooding could be causing some of this issue. Either way, thank you for being involved as much as you are and making a effort to make this right.

I just did a 2 hours training flight around KSTS ORBX yesterday. I had no OOM. I reported to Flysimware an error in the magnetic compass. I need to make the first flight I attemped from KMRY to KRDD ORBX in order to see if the V1.1 plus patch cure the problem for me. Concerning the pitch trim, sometimes it seems to be stuck and if I insist I can finally move it. To be continued...

Cheers

Ok fuel selectors fixed. And steering lock. Now since the steering lock uses axis movements in the code these type always flood and that's how axis movements work. But now instead of it flooding with the steer lock off it only floods when on so after you disable it and during the long haul there will be no flood until it comes back on. Also the gyro drift is another that can't be fixed as it's always active and that is normal. So i have 14 more to go.

Ya Pat send that pic of the magnetic compass and explain in more detail what is wrong as i have never had issues with these gauges.

I echo those sentiments completely! I too am very excited about the possibilities for this aircraft, along with the 441 for an air ambulance and cargo service. Great job Flysimware and as Yorik said, thanks for sticking with this. You have no idea how refreshing and appreciated it is!!

Hey Pat, do you mean Patch V1.0 instead of 1.1? I don't have 1.1, but if it exists, could you point me to it please? Many thanks.

I mentioned to them about the pitch trim as well. I noted that when you select cold and dark on the aircraft Control Panel, it also turns the Pitch Trim switch to PRI from off. I'm wondering if that might cause a problem in that it may also move the trim to full travel in one direction or another. What I found is that while the needle is at full deflection, the trim can actually travel quite a bit further, so leaning on the trim switch appears to have no effect. In actuality, I think it does, but it takes a long time to show up on the gauge itself. My recommendation was to not have the Pitch Trim switch go to on, but instead go to OFF when selecting cold and dark, and for the trim to actually center so we can see right away if there is any movement or not. That will also serve as a clue that something's not right if the trim doesn't move when we lean on the pitch trim control (i.e. the switch is still off).

With respect to the gyro drift, I notice in the aircraft.cfg, you have the [direction_indicator] for the gyro set to "2". If you set it to "3", that gives you a slaved gyro and there is no drift. If you are referring to the HSI gyro (which is a slaved unit IRL), then that might solve a couple of problems in one shot (plus no extra coding required). I'm not sure if that's what you were referring to, but I thought I'd mention it. Hope it helps.

Oh, by the by, on the mag compass? I'm not sure what bug was picked up on that (I've not seen it, but I've not been looking for it either), but I found IRL if I hung a small magnet on the compass itself, the oscillations stopped completely and it was nice and steady. PLUS, you never had any trouble flying north because no matter which way you went, you were always headed north :Tounge:  (OK, for those who aren't real pilots, I'm just kidding here  )

Hi Flysimware!

You should have received the pics now! To be simple the magnetic compass indication does not match the real heading, for example I noticed when align on the rwy 32 at KSTS a compass indication of 040 instead of 320 as indicated on the HSI, and same at different headings.

BeaverDriver go to your account at Flysimware and download v1.1  (I re-patched it after install). I use too always "Cold and dark". I suppose the "normal" position of the pitch trim is Pri. Within a few days I'll receive a FlightSafety LearJet 35 & 36 Series Pilot Checklist. No no I'm not a big fan of this plane :Tounge: .

I want also to mention here the great customer service by Flysimware.

<LOL> I see you installed that magnet I mentioned above

Re the V1.1 patch - Great - thanks for this! I'll grab that tonight then.

"No no I'm not a big fan of this plane"

Oh good! You had me worried there for a minute :Big Grin: :Big Grin:

Just a quick addendum re the customer service - I'm so pleased with it, I'm having a good, hard look now at buying the MU2. I want to run an air ambulance ops, and I see the MU2 is used quite a bit for that because of it's gravel runway capability and it's speed. Given how well looked after we are with the Lear, well that's going to pay off in $$$ for Flysimware. I expect to have it by the weekend. Just thought you should know  .

I would buy it right now BUT i have way too many planes to learn at the moment and i dont need a extra one. Im sure soon enough ill get my card out and but the MU.... Its hard to stay away from it.

BeaverDriver I mean Learjet 35A V1.1 plus patch to add

I just tried different airports(KSFF, PAKT, KEKA...) and I confirm for the compass error.

<LOL> Me too, but too many that are duds. I love the 441, and I figure it, the MU2 and the Lear would make a great fleet for AA work

Thanks for this Pat. I gather you just redownload the whole plane (if I remember their instructions correctly) and that gets you the latest patches/updates. Does that sound right to you?
