FLYTAMPA SYDNEY 1.2 TEXTURE FLICKER P3D V3

Hi guys so I have noticed while taking off on runway 34L almost half way down on right side of the runway slightly off to the right I get a flicker of texture just for a short length and then just one or 2 buildings flicker a little that's it.

 

any advise is greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a bit of Z-fighting going on.  Nothing you can do about that yourself.

Thank you very much for your quick reply can you please explain what exactly is z fighting?

 

it does not happen at any other of the airports that I have.

 

And I have  noticed others on youtube videos that have the same scenery do not experience this issue.

 

I am running 2x gtx titans sc in sli

Basically, it's when the draw order of textures changes back and forth, putting one texture on top of the other, then vice-versa.  When the draw planes of multiple textures become so close to the same value that they are within the precision limits of the depth buffer, it can happen.

But in any event, I don't know of any way a user can fix the problem where it occurs.

Matt Davies on Youtube just did a video and also notices some strange glitches appearing on one of the runways and it shows clearly in the video as he is taxing along.

I have also noticed this as well on 34L about a third of the way down on the Right.

In a post from Martin at FlyTampa he said in regards to the flickering ground textures "Some flickering at higher altitude will be normal with all updates where we changed the ground shaders", so that might explain why your seeing it.

 

The flickers you see on the buildings could be z-fighting issues as mentioned above, or if you have a duplicate AFCAD installed from another source like MyTraffic, ORBX, or other sources, then it could be from default airports trying to render under the FlyTampa buildings. If you have duplicate AFCADS for the airport, the you need to either remove or disable the other AFCADS except for the ones that came from FlyTampa.
