November 27, 201510 yr Hi, is there any real gain or improvement with these new drivers? I just installed it and maybe I'm loosing 2 or 3 frames, need more testing and/or adjust something else. Do you guys know what is the best version of the Nvidia drivers for X-Plane yet? Thanks, Alexander Colka
November 27, 201510 yr I'm using them Alex and my FRs are good. No worse and maybe a little better - but, I just had to rebuild my entire X-Plane program because Windows 10 broke it. Back to Windows 7 (no easy task since my roll back time had expired) and there are many things that could be causing better FRs. John John Wingold
November 27, 201510 yr Author I feel your pain and thanks for sharing your experience John, you see I just bought the 747-800 from the org due to the sale and I'm scratching my head all day testing and testing some configs because this baby is really frame hungry. Alexander Colka
November 28, 201510 yr I flew it a while ago (today) and the frames were about 58-60. I was looking for the reason and the HDR settings were 2X.... . I changed it to 4X... and they went into the upper 30s. As I said, the drivers and all the other stuff have been pretty good for me... just a lot of headache getting there! John John Wingold
November 28, 201510 yr X-Plane uses OpenGL drivers and these have not changed for ages as far as I am aware so any changes you may or may not notice wont be up to the nVidia drivers themselves but due to some other change in your system. Also unless the driver update mentions anything specific about X-Plane improvements it is not really wise to update unless of course you use your PC for other games that require the driver updates. I could happily use a driver from a year and a half ago but them some other games started complaining I needed to update.
November 28, 201510 yr I agree Glenn. I think the best nVidia drivers for X-Plane were in the 337 series. They got worse until around the mid 350s and then improved (back to the 337 level). Whether it was something else interfering with the OpenGL or what, I don't know, but they seem to have stabilized since then. No better - no worse. John John Wingold
