You can pause the sim. I think you can still change stuff in the avionics with it paused, press the 'P' key to try it.

If I had thousands of dollars to spend on scenery etc for P3D and I was assured I will no longer run into memory (VAS) issues no matter how detailed the aircraft were I would move back to P3D. Until then I won't touch it. Too many times I have had flights crash half way through due to OOM's. I will not let this frustrate my Flight Sim gaming experience again. I am quite happy now with the z18 Photo scenery I have now in X-Plane and have had countless flights with no memory issues Having said that it does look gorgeous though ;-)

I believe it is Clouds Gold Edition X II 1.3 BETA, Think I picked it up from the org sorry it was a while back and I do not have the link. I prefer these to Skymaxx Pro when flying jets as the clouds reach the horizon and my frame rates are very good with these. I still like Skymaxx pro when flying VFR

I use World Traffic 2.0 and am very happy with it. Yes it has it's drawbacks at the moment in that you need to spend some time setting it up but I have it now just as I need it. Thousands of flight plans at the majority of airports I fly to and from. There are scripts you can run that generate all the flight plans for you. Visit the product forum on the org. I took these screenshots at KPHX. What I like about WT 2.0 is that the AI planes follow the correct SID's and STAR's, they use the Navigraph AIRAC files. As I mentioned it takes a bit of setting up but for me it's worth it.

So on the basis of someone saying the have a myriad of problems (whatever they may be) with Windows 10 you intend to use Windows 8? I myself have been using Windows 10 for 1 year and have had no problems whatsoever with X-Plane or any other game or application for that matter. It is more likely the problems you are experiencing have nothing to do with Windows 10 at all. I cannot save a new logbook and X-plane has not created the "X-Plane Pilot.txt" file the instructions mention. Secondly, I've downloaded some custom scenery for a few local airports but there does not seem to be any additional scenery generated. Finally, I have not been able to file a flight plan when attempting to use ATC. 1. Where is your X-Plane installed, in which folder. It's usually best to install it to C:\X-Plane or D:\X-Plane whatever and not into ..\Program Files\.. I can create logbooks pretty easily. 2. This would have very little do do with Windows 10 but more on how your scenery_pack,ini is setup I think 3. The ATC in X-Plane is pretty dismal, Windows 8 won't fix that either. As @Alfamike mentioned attach your log.txt file and it will be easier to see what is going wrong at least with the scenery part. It's all fine and dandy people saying Windows 10 is no good but when they do not back those claims up with evidence or examples then I tend to read over those kind of comments.

What do the nVidia specs say when you open the nVidia control panel. Also You will come across these sorts of things using an old OS with new hardware. Any reason you did not update to Windows 10 yet? You are also aware that any new DX12 games that may come out are not supported on Windows 7.

I use Orthos4XP to create the scenery. Just google it.

I had a 30 fps increase going from GTX970 to GTX1080 @ 1920x1080 then shifted up to an Ultra Wide screen 34" 3440x1440 and still have a 15 fps increase on my GTX970 with higher settings

I usually do 4 tiles around the airports I fly to at z18 or z19 and then inbetween z16

Just a hint I use Macrium Reflect (they have a free version) to create a backup of my scenery once a week and it takes about 15 minutes to restore (300GB scenery folder) should I have problems. Of course you can use any other kind of backup software you wish. It won't help you now but maybe next time should it occur again.

Ok so with the IXEG 737 at MrX SFO with Skymax and World Traffic running with everything maxed out I was getting 50 FPS at 1920X1080 at 3440x1440 I was getting 20FPS so I dropped the eye candy a little and now getting 35FPS

I have ordered a Palit GTX1080 Gamerock. I will post my results later, at the moment I have a GTX 970 so I am expecting a slight increase in both FPS and the ability to turn up the eye candy.

Pretty good! I'll see how mine does tomorrow with a GTX1080 and 34" LG 34UC87C Curved QHD 3440 x 1440, both arrive tomorrow. 1920x1080p is a walk in the park for a GTX1080

You can turn all the spyware stuff off with the 'OOSU10' tool, google it as I cannot post links on this forum. Forced updates? Google this "howtogeek how-to-prevent-windows-10-from-automatically-downloading-update"

How long is/was the demo version of FSX or P3D without actually purchasing the product?

So you asked for advice which one you should buy and clearly everyone or most advised the IXEG as well as I would have done because JAR is mediocre at best and you still went ahead and bought the JAR en now you deleted it already Well out of the next 2 you want to buy I would go for the Saab 340 if you like systems depth but the Emraer is also not too bad.
