December 2, 201510 yr Hi I bought FSX:SE today and removed old FSX and all add-ons before installing SE and reinstaling add-ons. But the NGX doesn't seem to work. It does not open an activation window, and the loading screen freezes at 0%. It does work with other aircraft. All versions of SimConnect are installed. Thanks. Mihkel Kiil

Did you download a fresh copy of the NGX and uninstall the original before reinstalling with the latest installers? Kyle Rodgers

Hi, Mihkel, You might want to check whether the folder called something like Documents/Flight Simulator X Files, and the folder called ... Appdata/Microsoft/fsx have "SE" included in their names. The Steam installer creates separate folders with these names if it detects an existing FSX (boxed version) installation. It may well have done this even though you uninstalled FSX Box. My guess is that this situation would confuse the PMDG NGX (and 777) installer. The solution would be to uninstall the Steam version and make sure there is nothing left in the registry about either version before you reinstall Steam. Mike

For now I have switched back to FSX classic. I might have to reinstall Windows to fix this issue, as PMDG support is unavailble during daytime in my country, and I have to wait until they reply at night. Mihkel Kiil

Hi, Mihkel, Before you go to the trouble of reinstalling Windows, try uninstalling ALL versions of FSX. Then use a Registry Cleaner. I haven't used one, but PMDG has a recommendation at this link: http://support.precisionmanuals.com/kb/a62/installer-reports-that-fs9-cannot-be-found-that-pmdg-737ng-600-700-is-not-installed-even-when-it-is_.aspx?KBSearchID=142403 At this link PMDG explains how to uninstall and reinstall FSX. These instructions were written before FSX Steam came out, but they should still be helpful. Note that they recommend that you NOT install FSX in the Programs or Programs(x86)folder. I have followed this advice and see few or no errors due to unnecessary security "protections." http://support.precisionmanuals.com/kb/a87/how-to-uninstall-and-reinstall-fsx.aspx You will want to use the Registry Cleaner (linked to in first page I linked) after you uninstall all versions of FSX and before you install Steam.
