If it's an upgrade of an old system what do you have now? December 27, 201510 yr Intel IPC and per core performance is best of market, and required for FSX so avoid AMD. Standard recommended processor is an unlocked i7. The hyper threading is not necessarily important but larger cache is helpful. Should be unlocked to allow for overclocking, which also benefits FSX. Newest i7 release is 6700k Skylake, previous generation is 4790k Haswell. Both are close in performance since Intel's generational improvements have flat lined. Used to be a new cpu was 30%-50% faster than previous gen, now they're 5-10%. If you can get a deal on a slightly older chip that's still a viable option. Ethan Edelson
