The biggest prob with your Win 7 install was not having chipset drivers so it prob didn't recognize the various USB and hardrive controllers. I just came from 7 and don't have many complaints against 10 that can't be overcome with a few minutes of browsing on the net.,

So far my experience has been the same although thinking back to when I installed Win 7 there were a lot of OS tweaks I performed as per the NickN Bible.
