My girlfriend updated to 10 on her laptop,I wasn't impressed so I have an extra copy of windows 7 sitting on my shelf for my next build in 2 years or so. To OP Microsoft will allow you to "downgrade" to windows 7 for free. Also I'd just try the key what's the worst that could happen? At worst it doesn't work and you have to reformat and wait for a disk to get there.
