Is there A good payware alternative for the PSS A340

Featured Replies

HiWith so many negative threads against PSS in general and specially to their A3XX models; is there a payware alternative to the PSS A340-XXX ??????????????ThanksJuan

The PSS A340 is cheap enough to try without worrying about it. I found it to be a good package, and I use it from time to time now. Don't let bad press be your only gauge, like in politics...

I learned something very soon after the FS add-ons industry really took off - you very rarely hear anything from the (usually large majority of) perfectly happy people and massive amounts from the (usually small minority of) people who are very unhappy about something or someone. The PSS Airbus aircraft are perfectly usable and most people I know who use them are happy with their purchases - I know one guy who never flies anything else!!! (But then he is a officially insane... ;-) ) The main problem people have with PSS is not their aircraft but the fact that their forum is moderated. What I would suggest you do is to look for reviews on a collection of sites of the PSS models and judge them using more than one source.Cheers,Ian P.

Don't let bad press be your only gauge, like in>politics...HiI have PSS A320 for FS2002 and I remembered how fast people were merging the panel to other freeware models............ For $44.99 at Just Flight the PSS A340 is not "cheapo", will rather spend $50+++++for Pmdg 747; but in this and other forums consistent bad press agaist a product cannot be taken lightly, but the question remains, Is there a payware alternative to the PSS A340????????????????????ThanksJuan

Juan, I have a good suggestion for you...Buy the PSS A340 for the panel (only 7.50GBP=$13.56USD) and merge with the Posky (Project Opensky) A340-200/300 (better exterior model). This merge is possible with Edward Cox's update which includes terrific looking 2D side-views but no VC...this solution works great!!Link: http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=69013

What you will need to do is go to their forum and look for the various fixes people have offered to make this plane work (and work well) in FS9. For example, you will have to change the lift_scalar values, etc. ricardo

I would say it's more a question rather than what's the risk ? is what's the message ?If they continue to get our money they will never change. Not like any other addon developer I know of does a company not support their own product from one version of flightsim to another. Their 747, 777 and Airbus 320 are still at FS2002 standards.Steve
