January 16, 201610 yr Commercial Member You definitely got better than 30fps in FSX? Possibly the PC is just a bit underpowered, but I would have thought just about OK in P3D. Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
January 16, 201610 yr Author In FSX, I was getting a maximum of 30 FPS. I usually got 20 to 25. I didn't pay a ton for the PC, so it may just be that the PC is under powered. Thanks a lot for your help.
January 16, 201610 yr Commercial Member Thank you too, because it's been interesting. The problem with the halving fps with the undocked window may well then be a situation arising with the NVidia drivers, so I'm glad you tried that test. Probably need to get a proper PC rather than try to upgrade that one. They come on a lot recently. You read a lot about new CPUs but they still perform in little increments. Big increases come in PC speed with latest motherboards, memory, SSDs, and GPUs. Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
January 16, 201610 yr Did you try disabling tessellation? Philip LaBianca _____________________ "I think, therefore I am."

January 23, 201610 yr Author I forget exactly which one I have, but is has about 1gb DDR3 of vram. I am planing to build a new computer in the near future, as this computer is not great quality (and a few years old), so it isn't worth upgrading.
January 23, 201610 yr Commercial Member I would venture to guess that your video card is not up to the task. In doing a quick online search of GPU's that have 1gb or ddr3, that is in the realm of a gt720, gt601, or an ati5450. As P3D uses the GPU much more than FSX, I can see the scenario of much better frame rates in FSX than in P3D. Glad to hear that you will be upgrading your system and I am sure you will really enjoy P3D. REX AccuSeason Developer REX Simulations
