January 27, 201610 yr Hi, I have a view problems with the lights in the cockpit and a view questions about it: Isn't there any "Master" switch or knob (except the "Storm" switch I normally use every time) to turn on and dim the flood lights all at once? How do you turn lights on (without using the keyboard) when u are in cold & dark in the night? How can I iluminate just the the lettering during the day? Sometimes I want them on but there is no way. Sorry for theses maybe stupid questions but I think this is a bit complicated. Best, Izze
January 27, 201610 yr 1. Do read the introduction manual provided. The master switch is part of a large knob on the overhead panel. Beside the storm light switch. It is labeled so can't be missed. When pushed inside it is turned on.. And all the ambient lighting brightness can be controlled by it. Again... It controls the brightness of the lights. Doesn't turn them on. If you want to illuminate everything. Use the dome light. 2. Turn on the emergency light. Illuminates everything. Beware.. They are functional only upto 10-15 mins. If I'm right. Intensity can't be controlled. 3. Backlight for lettering doesn't really work during the day. Might be due to how the sim treats the night and day textures.. Just a fsx-ism. Again just a shortcoming which can't really be controlled sadly. If you have just started flying this bird. Go through the introduction manual over and over and over again. Then go into the systems. And you could start playing around with the bird. Hope this helps, H.M To most people the sky is the limit. To those who love aviation, the sky is home. greetings, H.Mahesh
January 27, 201610 yr Commercial Member Welcome to the forum, Stefan. Isn't there any "Master" switch or knob (except the "Storm" switch I normally use every time) to turn on and dim the flood lights all at once? Yep - there's a big knob near the STORM light labeled, conveniently, MASTER. How do you turn lights on (without using the keyboard) when u are in cold & dark in the night? In reality? A flash light and some muscle memory. In the sim, I usually turn the STORM or DOME light on until just before pushback. How can I iluminate just the the lettering during the day? Sometimes I want them on but there is no way. There is, actually. There are knobs scattered throughout the flight deck with an inner knob and an outer knob. The inner knob is the green backlighting and the outer is the panel flood. Make sure the inner knob is directly in the middle (they're all in the middle by default, but if it's not click the mousewheel on your mouse and the knob will center). You can then adjust all of the lighting using the single MASTER knob instead of each individual knob scattered around. ...all of this is actually described in decent detail (with pictures, I believe) in the Intro Manual. There's a lot of helpful info in there, so you'd be doing yourself a favor by reading it. Full names in the forum please - first and last. Kyle Rodgers
January 27, 201610 yr Author Thanks for your answers. My biggest question is, how can I illuminate the lettering during the day? I made 3 screenshots what I mean. 1. Lettering in the dusk = bright: https://www.dropbox.com/s/c4tl5s9i5ie1g69/klein_Dusk.jpg?dl=0 2. Lettering at day = off: https://www.dropbox.com/s/t9s58o4cxnhig1e/klein_Day.jpg?dl=0 3. Lettering during the dusk/day phase when changing the time in options: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ebe77acf6zub3cf/klein_Day_Lettering.jpg?dl=0 What I want is the bright letters during the day as in picture 3. But this is just for a view seconds and thats it. How can I do that? BTW: How can I insert pictures? Best, Izze
January 27, 201610 yr Commercial Member 2. Lettering at day = off:https://www.dropbox....in_Day.jpg?dl=0 It's actually on, but backlighting is tough to see during the day, because it's being lit from the front as well. What I want is the bright letters during the day as in picture 3. But this is just for a view seconds and thats it.How can I do that? Not sure where you got that picture, but I believe the colors have been changed in the settings. That's not realistic at all. How can I insert pictures? January 27, 201610 yr Author Not sure where you got that picture, but I believe the colors have been changed in the settings. That's not realistic at all. This is a screenshot made of a video. The part where the letters are so bright are just a view seconds when I changed the sim time from dusk (where the lights are bright) to day where the lights are dark. After the dayimages are loaded the letters are so light just 2-3 seconds. Then they went dark. Best, Izze
January 28, 201610 yr I had similar questions when I first got it too, but I figured out a solution. In the real world, you can see the panel lights (lettering lights) when it's fairly shaded during the day. But obviously the master brightness at full is too bright on every other instrument during the day. Therefore, on my panel state I turn off the master brightness and go manual. Then for each panel section I turn just the panel brightness to full and leave it that way both day and night. That way sometimes (not always) during the day when it's nice and shaded, you can see a green hint in the lettering. Panel State: https://www.dropbox.com/s/xx84wn2zuxl0exa/777%20Panel%20State.rar?dl=0 Here's a pic showing where some (not all) of the panel (lettering writing) switches are.... https://www.dropbox.com/s/fdflhvo8iq9yoig/lettering.png?dl=0 excuse my amazing photoshop skills... haha - Luke Pabari
