3 Monitors, 2 Video Cards for better FPS?

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Would anyone know if running two GTX 980Ti 6 GB cards would help or make any difference in FPS in FSX for a multi three monitor setup, (1 VC view, 2 undocked fully expanded 2D views)???

This would be on a i7 4770K system...

I know FSX is CPU dependant, but could it possibly help?

Thanks,
Sam

Running P3D 2.5 on a 6700K at 4.6 GHz with 3 outside views (1920x1080), I have recently added  a second 680Ti and am now running them in SLI.

Display is locked internally at 31 fps and even trying very hard a cannot find any difference to when I was running only one card. I must say however that I do not use any cockpits as I am running external cockpit display (project magenta).

Hi A340Bangla,

Thanks for the info, I know I'm running a different setup than most and don't want to commit to spending the money if it's not going to help...

I guess a person just needs to live with the limitations of FSX being so CPU dependant and except it....

Having the extra two undocked 2D views on each side monitor is a lot of drain on the system FPS, I still can hold 29-30 but in heavy city areas it drops into the mid to low 20's.

Is that 4770K overclocked?

If not that would be the way to go.

Yes, my friend Gboz is correct. That 4770K is a fantastic overclocker. You can get great speeds without manually touching the voltage settings at all.

At first I thought you had 2D panels on the 2nd and 3rd monitors but with three separate VC type views on them I guess your frame rates are pretty normal for FSX despite having that 980Ti.

You sould get better frame rates if you went with a three monitor Surround setup.

I do have 2D panels on the side monitors and 1 VC on the forward....

A surround setup won't work because of stretching and the distortion...
