It says that it is for FSX -- would there be any issues trying to get it to run in P3D?

L-M completely changed the way all of that works, so it's unlikely to work with Prepar3D v2 or v3.

There is a guide how to run FSX missions in P3D at the bottom of the review article http://www.simreviews.com/2016/01/31/fs-academy-on-instruments I have not tried it yet but looks promising.
