March 20, 201610 yr I run FSX-boxed from a 500GB SSD that also has Windows 10. MSE recommends installing their photoscenery to a separate disk to avoid waits in flight. So I did and the initial load times are much longer than when I had it on the SSD, and so far I haven't noticed any difference in flight. So if you have enough space on your SSD, is it better to install MSE to the SSD or a separate hard drive? March 20, 201610 yr I have done it both ways and not seen any difference in performance. If you have the space, I would keep it on the SSD. March 21, 201610 yr Author Thanks. I give it a try with one area both ways. [CPL] : I9-9900K @5.0GHz HT ON, Maximus XI Hero, ASUS TUF RTX4080 OC, 32GB DDR4 3200 14, 1TB NVMe SSD, 500GB SSD, 1TB HDD, 40" Samsung 4K TV, Honeycomb Alpha & Bravo, Logitech Rudder Pedals, WIN11
April 18, 201610 yr So if you have enough space on your SSD, is it better to install MSE to the SSD or a separate hard drive? Thanks, I know its a bit of a late reply Bruce but its better on the SSD full stop. It doesn't matter if that SSD also contains OS and/or FSX. To use separate drives are only of relevance with old school mechanical hard drives. Photo scenery on SSD not only have the quickest initial load times, it also loads quickest whilst flying. I've tested this a lot.
