PhotoScenery on separate disk?

Featured Replies

I run FSX-boxed from a 500GB SSD that also has Windows 10.  MSE recommends installing their photoscenery to a separate disk to avoid waits in flight.  So I did and the initial load times are much longer than when I had it on the SSD, and so far I haven't noticed any difference in flight.

So if you have enough space on your SSD, is it better to install MSE to the SSD or a separate hard drive?

Thanks,

Bruce

I have done it both ways and not seen any difference in performance.   If you have the space, I would keep it on the SSD.

Thanks. I give it a try with one area both ways.

Thanks,

I know its a bit of a late reply Bruce but its better on the SSD full stop.

It doesn't matter if that SSD also contains OS and/or FSX. To use separate drives are only of relevance with old school mechanical hard drives. Photo scenery on SSD not only have the quickest initial load times, it also loads quickest whilst flying.  I've tested this a lot.

Thanks.  I've been flying with California South and LAX Ultra on the SSD and I'm happier with it so that's where I'll put the other areas also.  Thanks for the help!
