Flight Velocity panel & touchscreens with Air Manager
To close this out... I finally went with the FV12 panel and dash that has 2 13.3 displays. Then on the side I added a 3rd 13.3 display. On the main 2 displays I put the primary flight instruments and in some cases even the main standby flight instrunments. I use the 3rd display for panels and switches and indicators and in the case of the Honda Jet, I even added the 2 GTCs. It all worked out perfect for me using Air Manager and PopoutMgr.

Flight Velocity panel & touchscreens with Air Manager
I'm considering a FVPro6UDM panel with dual encoder and dual 15.6" touchscreens. I like this option since the touch screens (with Air Manager) can be reconfigured to a number of different aircraft as opposed to a dedicated G1000 (or other) solution. Does anyone have experience with Flight Velocity and their touchscreen panels w/Air Manager and are you happy with it? Are the 15.6" touch screens overkill? Are there a lot of panels/instruments available for Air Manager and is it easy or a headache to configure? Thanks!

Creating a BAT File to Autostart
I use the FSUIPC7 .bat that can be created when installed. Then I use the FSUIPC7.ini [Programs] section to start the additional add on I want (SPAD, NavigraphSimLink etc). Works great!

FSUIPC7 Startup
Just FYI, I use the FSUIPC7 feature to put a shortcut on my desktop that I use to start MSFS. Works great. And in my FSUIPC7.ini I use the "Programs" feature to start other addons like SPAD.neXt and ForeFlightRelay. [Programs] Run1=CLOSE,"E:\XX - MSFS2020\My_MSFS_Stuff\Miller.MSFS..ForeFlightRelay\Miller.Msfs.ForeFlightRelay.exe" Run2="E:\SPAD.neXt\SPAD.neXt\SPAD.neXt.exe"

Scenery issue around intense add on airports
Thanks stans, but more flights show this wasn't the answer. I'm out of airspeed, altitude and ideas, all at the same time...

Scenery issue around intense add on airports
After much continued troubleshooting, I discovered that the "blocky trees" were not happening when I flew the Carenado Phenom 100 but did happen almost all the time with the Carenado PA28 Archer. No idea why that airplane seems more intense on processing, but I figured it must be a CPU overload issue. So I changed my Affinity Mask from 116 (01110100) to 252 (11111100) to use all the LPs above 0 & 1 since I have a BAT file that starts ASN, PE Client, and FSXFlight with Affinity 3 (00000011). After a quick test flight in the Archer everything was perfect! Does this make sense to anyone? Thanks, Bruce

Scenery issue around intense add on airports
Hey Bill! It has become an obsession with me.. My FSX DX9 setup works beautifully except for this nagging problem, and a related issue at KCRQ, and occasionally when I switch on the panel lights in my Carenado Archer the gauges have a black box around them. Each of these problems gets fixed by pausing for a moment, switching to windowed mode, then back to full screen. In that reloading process everything comes back the way it should. So, I'm convinced that I have some kind of issue of balance between the CPU and GPU where in these intense HD scenarios, initially some texture transparencies don't get processed right. But I don't know enough about how FSX does the processing to know what to change. I don't think the scenery itself is bad, or that I have a conflicting scenery, although it could be but I've tried disabling everything and turning back on one at a time. The problem in doing that is that I also have ASN and PilotEdge running so to replicate the problem takes quite a setup and flying into the airport from outside the area, so it takes a long time. I'll figure it out someday.. Thanks for your continued help! Appreciated. Bruce

Scenery issue around intense add on airports
This is now the most annoying and disappointing problem I’ve had with an FSX add on. LatinVFR seems unable to help at all. I’ve tried disabling MegaSceneryEarth sceneries, I’ve tried re-downloading and re-installing KSNA, I've tried re-ordering scenery priorities, I’ve tried turning down the resolution of my REX4TD textures, and nothing seems to work. I have a pretty powerful system (specs below). Steve W -- I went to codelegend.com and made sure my fsx.cfg and NVIDIA Inspector profile was set up as you outline for DX9. I had high hopes that turning off Transparency AA (supersampling and multisampling) and setting the AA setting to 3x3s would do it, but no luck. I also changed Bufferpools to USEPOOLS=1 and POOLSIZE=2048. I have jpg screenshots but I can't upload them in this forum I guess. Any thoughts appreciated! I follow your posts and advice closely. Always educational. Thanks, Bruce I think I figured out the screenshot upload.

Scenery issue around intense add on airports
Sorry, was out of town a few days.. They are trying to help but so far it has them stumped. I am trying to recreate similar circumstances at KSAN another LVFR add on that I haven't had any issues at. I'm also going to try KSNA with the MegaSceneryEarth California South disabled. Since I have MSE LAX TCA Ultra Res also maybe the 3 sets of scenery is just overwhelming or conflicting. MSE California South, MSE LAX UltraRes, then LVFR KSNA. Should be able to report back by tomorrow. Thanks for the help!

Scenery issue around intense add on airports
Thanks. I uninstalled and reinstallled KSNA. Checked for any potentially conflicting AFCAD files manually. I'll check out SimpleAirportScanner. I turned off an airport scenery option to have photoscenery and landclass around airport since I also have MegaScenery LAX / SAN and Southern California sceneries. I have the airports at a higher priority in the scenery cfg. On a short flight tonight the "block trees" at KSNA were still there. The trees on approach outside the airport area were fine. This was before I uninstalled / reinstalled however so I'll try again tomorrow. I'm also going to post in LatinVFR support forum. Are these trees likely "Autogen"? I've tried the bufferpool section in & out and no difference I can notice on this issue. Thanks, Bruce

Scenery issue around intense add on airports
My system (see specs in sig) has generally been performing beautifully. The only issue I have has been nagging me for months. When arriving at either LatinVFR KSNA or SIM720 Palomar KCRQ I get blocks of scenery. At KSNA it's always blocks instead of trees or the tall grasses. I've tried turning down settings and reducing Autogen all to no avail. Can some fsx.cfg guru look at the relevant sections of my settings below and give me some advice? I have a pic but can't seem to post it here. Greatly appreciated!!! Saitek Pro Yoke green mode / clock screen
OK just to close this out as a reference for others... The issue was the PC sleep function. For some reason after I completely shut down the PC and power supply for a week, on return I fired up, and the PC wasn't correctly going to sleep after an hour. The display was turning off after 30 mins as I had set but the PC wasn't in sleep mode. Even with all the USB Power Management boxes unchecked, when my PC goes to sleep mode, the USB controllers (all attached to a powered 2.0 hub) all turn off. They come alive on wake and I've not had any issues with FSX recognition.

Saitek Pro Yoke green mode / clock screen
(Specs in sig) I have everything set up with all USB power management controls in device manager set to not allow PC to shut down device but up until this week when the PC would go to sleep mode the yoke (and rudders and a joystick for that matter) would all turn off. They would wake when the PC woke. This week I came back from a week away and before leaving I had turned the PC off and even shutdown the power supply. After firing it back up on return, the yoke (and other controls) stay on all the time. I don't know what happened or how to return it to the prior state. My concern is the darn bright green glow in that room all night and burning out the panel. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Thanks!

Control Setup problems
John - That's great. I have Saitek Pro Flight yoke, throttle and rudders. What is the current status? I assume you have assigned the axes in FSUIPC but it's not working the way you expect. Because I use aircraft specific profiles and assign all my views, controls and buttons in FSUIPC, I completely delete any FSX settings control assignments and uncheck "Enable Controllers" in FSX settings to avoid conflicts. Then I assign all axes in FSUIPC as "Send direct to FSUIPC Calibration", then I use FSUIPC Joystick Calibration for each assigned axis. So, how far have gotten so far, and what problems are you running into? Bruce

Control Setup problems
1. What controls are you using? 2. Make sure you clear the control from the FSX controller assignment or uncheck the Enable Controllers in FSX control settings. 3. Do you have the paid FSUIPC? 4. Have you found the controls axis and button assignment pages in the FSUIPC AddOn menu? Let me know and I can help, I use FSUIPC4 extensively for FSX profiles. Bruce

Wizards: how can I make a bootable copy of my C: drive...
Charlatan/Manny - thanks! I think you're both right, it's a Windows (and operator) error. I did post on the Acronis forums at the same time and did get a very helpful individual that pointed out that Windows 10 is sensitive to which SATA cable the disk is plugged into (Windows disk position) and after unplugging the source SSD I plugged the clone SSD in with a different cable. I'm traveling this week so I won't be able to try again until next week. I'll report back. Manny - I'm not sure I fully understand the process you went through, so if I need to do that I may need some tutoring. I have Windows 10 and FSX on the 500GB SSD so when I go to make the clone obviously both SSDs have to be plugged in. After I clone I unplugged the source SSD as above. When I went back to the original source SSD it works fine.

Wizards: how can I make a bootable copy of my C: drive...
Not to hijack the thread... But I've been using Acronis for maybe 3 months (system in signature). Today I cloned SSD 1 and then shutdown, unplugged SSD 1, left SSD 2 plugged in and rebooted. Everything booted up fine and other apps / programs seem to work fine but when I tried to start FSX all I get is "Fatal Error...". I have a number of add-on things installed to a 1 TB HDD. Do I need to do anything with the BIOS settings in order for the cloned SSD to have identical settings? I'm at a loss and worried that I've wasted my time and $$ on Acronis and a 2nd SSD (Samsung EVO 500GB). The whole point was to have a plug n play clone in case something went awry on the 1st SSD. Anyone have this issue before with Acronis? BTW, the Acronis had an update that I installed just prior to the clone operation. Thanks, Bruce

Adjusting toe brake steering / pedals?
I struggled with FSUIPC initially but now I'm pretty good at it. Let me know if I can assist. Your final FSUIPC4.ini file should have some lines that look like this: (only relevant lines listed) [General] ShortAircraftNameOk=Substring UseProfiles=Yes [JoyNames] AutoAssignLetters=Yes A=CH Fighterstick USB A.GUID={DACE02F0-3C2C-11E5-8001-444553540000} B=Saitek Pro Flight Yoke B.GUID={23B97E30-1B54-11E5-8001-444553540000} C=Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals C.GUID={84934DC0-8257-11E5-8001-444553540000} 0=CH Fighterstick USB 0.GUID={DACE02F0-3C2C-11E5-8001-444553540000} 1=Saitek Pro Flight Yoke 1.GUID={23B97E30-1B54-11E5-8001-444553540000} 2=Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals 2.GUID={84934DC0-8257-11E5-8001-444553540000} [Profile.Archer] 1=PA-28 Archer METALBLUE [Axes.Archer] RangeRepeatRate=10 0=BX,256,D,1,0,0,0 1=BY,256,D,2,0,0,0 2=BZ,256,D,4,0,0,0 3=BV,256,D,6,0,0,0 4=CX,256,D,7,0,0,0 5=CY,256,D,8,0,0,0 6=CR,256,D,3,0,0,0 [JoystickCalibration.Archer] SteeringTillerControl=0 MaxSteerSpeed=80 Aileron=-16384,-512,512,16383/8 Elevator=-16384,-512,512,16383/8 Mixture=-16384,16128/8 Throttle=-16384,16383/8 Rudder=-16384,-512,512,16383/8 SlopeRudder=0 LeftBrake=-16384,16383/24 RightBrake=-16384,16383/24 SlopeLeftBrake=2 SlopeRightBrake=2

Adjusting toe brake steering / pedals?
Hi Andrew - Do you use aircraft specific profiles in FSUIPC? I assign my rudders "DIRECT" to FSUIPC cal, then calibrate the rudder axis and the two brakes in FSUIPC, then I set a slope of between 1 - 3 depending on the airplane. I can post the FSUIPC.ini if needed but you can do all this from the add on menu interface. All the FSX airplanes I fly have steerable nose gear or power NWS but in the light GA I use toe brakes to assist tight turns on taxi. -Bruce

Affinity Mask: An Observation
Steve- first, thanks for your commitment to helping others with your very sound technical guidance. I follow closely. If I use AM 170, HT on (specs below) and start FSX to the free flight screen then start my add ons as admin (ASN, FSXFlight, and PilotEdge client) will the add ons utilize non FSX LPs or do I need to do something else to keep them from interfering?

Thinking about buying
Jack - Was waiting for someone else to reply but I'll offer up that I have the Phenom 100 and I like it a lot. But I installed a popup RXP GNS430 because the Prodigy G1000 implementation is pretty much the FSX stock G1000 and very difficult for me to input to. So I use the GNS430 for FPL input and all SIDs/STARS etc, and it loads the G1000. I'm not very concerned about the fidelity of the implementation. Since I am a RW instrument pilot I want to get as much practice using the 430 as I can and I use the Phenom just for fun or when I want a faster ride than the Carenado Archer I fly most of the time. The Phenom is great fun and great looking and others can tell you how good or bad it is in terms of systems.

Spad or Saitek plugins
Thanks for the info Rich! I have the paid FSUIPC4 and use it extensively for profile specific controls and buttons on my flight controls. I don't have any Saitek panels, just the yoke, throttles and rudders (and a CH FighterStick for stick airplanes), so it doesn't seem like I'd get much from buying SPADNext and the freeware version of SPADNext doesn't seem to allow interface to FSUIPC. The only problem I'm having is I can't use the Pro Flight Yoke mode switch, which isn't a big deal for me. Happy Flying!
