October 13, 200520 yr Hi,At Simmarket this book is available:http://secure.simmarket.com/product_info.p...roducts_id=1492I alrerady bought the FMC Guide and the 767 Checkride procedures manual of the same author.Does anyone has this book already? How deep does it goes into the material? October 14, 200520 yr It has just been put up on Amazon.com at $29.92 US. I just wonder if it overlaps his other guides. I believe this is his first simmer guide. I e-mailed Mike Ray and asked him if he would put up a sample on his site. I do not see it there yet.The publication date is last month.
October 14, 200520 yr There is a bit of overlap with some of his other books and alot of new stuff. If you fly Boeings, 737-757-767-747, get the book. It's well worth it in my opinion. I read and reread it very often.
October 14, 200520 yr Author Hi Bob,Does it describe startup procedures per aircraft, takeoff/approach profiles and like wise?Is it possible to list (partially) the table of contents?EDIT:Ahhh never mind. I ordered it 5 minutes ago ;-) Location: Vleuten, The Netherlands, 17.3dme SPL 108.40 | Simulator: FS2024 System: AMD 7800X3D - Gigabyte X670 - RTX 4090 - 64GB DDR5 - 2 x 2TB SSD - 32" 1440p Display - Windows 11 Pro
October 14, 200520 yr FYI - I queried Mike Ray and he did respond that it concentrates on simmers and includes most of the "old" and NG Boeings including various procedures, info, and some FMC programming. Rather than misquote I asked him to respond to this thread. He also stated his site, www.utem.com, is way behind. I did order it from Amazon, US, with an estimated one to two week shipping delay. Mike stated he expects Amazon to have sample pages up in about two weeks or so.
October 14, 200520 yr I am Mike Ray ...the guy who wrote the book. I have been e-mailing Ron (Ronzie) and he suggested I snip this into the forum:"What this new book does, is actually integrate the "NG" (Next Generation) material into the 737-300 and 757/767 cockpit presentations as well as the 747-400 and 777 for the simer. I think you will find the book really helpful in programming the FMC and interpreting the information of the various displays. It is written with the simmer as the focus and I try to concentrate on the areas that I think are the most important to the PC simmer; both beginning right up to expert, like yourself. Some good tutorial, including a great VOR RW01 approach into GUA (Guatemala City)."I would like to add a comment to that. I have been singularly impressed with quality of interest that PC simmers have given to my books; they were originally written specifically for professional airline pilots. I wrote this "700 series" book especially for those sim pilots out there who needed just a little nudge to really understand what is going on in the Boeing cockpit ...and therefore start having some real fun flying the fabulous Boeing Glass EFIS. I love the Boeing system, and with just a little coaching you will get to really find it a great challenge.
October 14, 200520 yr Nice of you to stop by here Mike. I've just about worn out my copies of the 747 and 767 checkride manuals. Great stuff!
