Guys I appear to be having issues with switch selection, whether i zoom in or not. It appears to be when using the mouse and the arrow selection. If I get the hands the left and right button works and the roller on tthe mouse works fine but arrow selection seems intermittent at best? Any advice appreciated.

There's an entire section of the Intro Manual devoted to working with the VC. I would encourage you to read it, as it will offer you valuable insight.
