Presently I have FTX Global, the free airport pack and two add-on airports, FSDT LAX and LatinVFR SAN, in the Southern CA area. I've just bought and I'm downloading So CAL now. Do I need to uninstall anything first before installing the region? I also have UTX2 installed.

No, you can just install your new package and it should be put at the right position in your scenery library

I would check the Compatibility Form over at the Orbx forums asap, if I were you.  Discussions about what to do with KLAX and KSAN are over there.  If you're going to the trouble of installing Orbx stuff, you are best advised to ask over there.
