  1. Have you L39 pilots followed the suggested Engine Shutdown checklist? Parking Brake--On Throttle Idle--2 mins Pressurization/ECS--Off Electrical switches--All off except Engine Inst. and Battery Throttle to Cutoff Eng Inst.--Off Battery--Off Canopy--Open Oxygen Supply--Off Ice Cold Stella Artois--Open
  2. I was finally able to see some RAF F4 Ai at Wattisham. The only thing I can think of was I was initially too far away to see the "action". Focusing in on the traffic, I was able to watch several F4s carry out their schedule and taxi and take off. Very kewl.... Edit to add: I think that AIFP did its job after all. I'm seeing many more F4s than I did before in places that I had looked at before. So there ya go. :Applause:
  3. Hi, Nick. I have UT2 installed and an AI package of Cessnas for use with Don Grovestine's British Columbia freeware airports. Not sure if I'm seeing FSX default AI. I think the solution is to convert all the FS9 traffic, including the ships, to FSX. Thanks. Edit to add: Ran the Flight Planner. It found no aircraft/airports that needed conversion and found one that already had been. Still no AI at Wattisham. The Phantoms are in the SimObjects/Airplanes folder, so somethin' is goofy somewhere. Something to mess around with later, I guess.
  4. Should I have the Flight Planner convert *all* FS9 files, or just the aircraft. It found some boat traffic for FS9..... And how come, if I have some FS9 traffic files, I still have lots of AI flying around???
  5. BTW, does anyone know why Internet Explorer doesn't allow me to quote another's post?
  6. Nick and Roman, If I had any FS9 traffic files present, I wouldn't be able to see *any* AI, correct? However, I see plenty, all the time, both GA and airliners. That's why I'm puzzled. Also, I temporarily took away all aircraft traffic files (I think) from .../Scenery/World/Scenery and still no Phantoms AI at Wattisham. I'm stumped, but may try Roman's suggestion with the AI Flight Planner. <Sigh> Another piece of software to learn how to use.
  7. Thanks for these, Mike. The review by Greg Morris was most interesting. He points out many features we sim pilots have learned already. I wish he had referenced km/h instead of knots, however, since the sim aircraft airspeed indicator is calibrated in km/h.
  8. Slightly off the subject, but has anyone been able to get the F4 Phantom AI to work at RAF Wattisham, freeware version, that is? I've run through all the checks, but no joy.
  9. How come I can't quote Bryan's message? Anyway, see if you can't download the user's manual and give it a read. It's not that complicated, but requires a few check rides to get used to the aircraft. After that, it's actually a lot of fun.
  10. If you haven't practiced flying the Loop, I strongly suggest that you do so. Flew two rounds in the A2A Spitfire today, and will fly a few more in the L-39. Do *not* try flying the Loop without a few practice rounds. You have been warned. That is all. Stew out.
  11. That seems prudent, Ron, at least until one knows the route, but that would take some time.
  12. Not with the Mach Loop journey, but can you imagine 4 L-39s practicing formation flying? Hmmm?
  13. Not an easy course! I found it difficult to follow the correct roads and rivers--took a wrong turn and had to double back. Got about 3/4 the way through, then crashed! More practice, mate. The L-39 runs great, however. Will be flying her Saturday along with Ron. Practice, practice, practice................
  14. Update re: flying the F1 B200. Have flown (on purpose) three times from Vancouver to Calgary. No appreciable hit on frame rate, maybe 25-26 vs. 30-31 in another less complex acft. Still ok. Disabled FTX PNW and absolutely no vas issues. Don't waste your time with Carenado's version--get this one. I think I'll keep this plane.
  15. I agree with Mike. This trip will be special.
  16. Hi, One...., I don't know yet, LOL. I haven't flown it yet, only a preflight check and start engines, which was holding me back in the first place. Soon, though. I need to practice my jet skills--see the post about our flying jets in the Mach Loop on the 16th. It's been awhile since I flew EF2000 and F22 Raptor on a Win95 rig. Good memories.
  17. Success!! Thanks, Roman and David. Yeah, the ignition switches were on, David. Roman, I didn't want to go full rich for fear of a hot start. So, I figured it was some omission on my part as both fuel pressure warning lights remained "on" during spool-up, and sure enough both the left and right firewall shutoff valves were closed--no fuel available for the gas generator section. I couldn't find them doing the preflight check list and so that was the problem. Once they were open, both engines came to life. Ya learn somethin' everyday!
  18. As I recall, I believe Jeff and maybe a couple of others have the Flight1 B200 King Air in their hangar? If so, might someone clue me in to getting the engines started on this puppy? I get a successful green annunciator light for the R Eng, the oil pressure creeps up into the yellow zone, and the N1 rpm settles in at around 18%, but no ignition. What did I did I forget to do, if I may ask? Thanks for any help, fellers.
  19. I'm gonna give the Albatros a whirl and see how it is. It looks pretty good, I must say.
  20. Wow! The L39 deserves an extended look, imo. Thanks for the heads up, Ron.
  21. Stan, Is the "Product installed and active" as noted in the Addon Manager? Otherwise try FSDT's website and see if this problem isn't covered in a sticky somewhere.
  22. Stan, I'm afraid OpenLC NA probably has nothing to do with your elevation problems at Vegas. If Holger's compatibility advice doesn't work for you, then it would appear there could be a problem with your installation of either KLAS itself or even FTX SCA. I don't know what else to tell you frankly. John's advice above is what I recommend, of course, since it has worked for most everyone who has tried it.
  23. You're very welcome, Rob. The fix has been around since FTX SCA was made available.
