Can't turn off engine sound

I'm guessing this is a well known issue but google search comes up lacking info.

 

It varies per plane but many planes seems to ignore the Engine slider within the Sound menu.

 

Does anyone know why and if there is a fix?

 

Default MS Grumman Goose is an example.

    If the sound.cfg contains minimum_volume entries for engine sound samples, you might have yourself a culprit there.
