November 3, 200520 yr It's hosted by Microsoft.Microsoft owns the domain. It's mentioned by FS team members on official Microsoft blogs. But of course none of that deters the true conspiracy theorist. After all, denial is admittance...
November 3, 200520 yr yes, the blog is an official Microsoft site. So is fsinsider.com.Both are hosted by Microsoft, edited by Microsoft staff (or maybe on behalf of Microsoft staff by a third party but that's unlikely), Microsoft owns the domains. Can't get much more official...
November 3, 200520 yr Just to clear this up a bit, register.com lookup for www.fsinsider.com shows it is owned by the Microsoft Corporationhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/131863.jpg
November 3, 200520 yr >I stand rebuked. After all you are a Student Pilot - Cessna>172 and a proud AOPA member.>>>EDIT>>PS - You didn't tell me where there's a link on the main>Flight Simulator site to FSInsider..The link to the insider was not the "insider" I thought you were all talking about. I was indeed referring to the insider on the Microsoft site. I didnt realize there were 2 "insiders".I just looked at the other insider site as well as the blogs. I am still going to hold out and see what happens.Heck -- from what I understand the model they want to release will be free? I may not be able to do a writing essay unless they extend the deadline (and yes I WILL do it honestly -- flying the actual flight and then writing on what I really experience), but I am always trying out free stuff in my sim and will look forward to trying this out.Hey -- it' going to be free either way -- so why all the commotion? **smiles** If they don't follow through - we arent at a loss. :-)>>stand rebuked. After all you are a Student Pilot - >>Cessna 172 and a proud AOPA member. In response to that -- ALL pilots are students. Any good pilot -- no matter how many years they have in the trade, will consider himself a student of the trade - ALWAYS learning something new. So I guess I will never be an "expert" like some say they are -- and I am ever so glad for that. And yes I am proud of AOPA :-) I still apologize for being confused about the link -- ah well -- we still haven't lost anything in the process. I guess the psychological reason why I stated what I did above, was that I noticed folks are acting like they are getting scammed out of money or something when this isn't costing us a dime. I threw in a piece of advice and, of course, get flamed for it in a PM . . . I hope folks do not take this sort of aggression to the cockpit if the one who wrote me is an actual aviator. All this because of an essay contest . . . **smiles** Take care, all. Safe skies to you.
November 4, 200520 yr Hey gang,I'm passing on some relevant links about the 777 fiasco for you...The insider site is updated...http://fsinsider.com/articles/FSBoeing777-200LRChallenge.htmAndMike Z's note from my 'blog:http://blogs.technet.com/pixelpoke/archive.../03/413633.aspxCheers,Jason "pixelpoke" Waskey

November 4, 200520 yr Jeremy and Michael,Not to confuse the issue too much, but I *am* an "AI construct built by aliens and sent to destroy the planet, one FS Community siteat a time."You all have been warned. :)And as an aside, mgh has every reason and right to be paranoid in today's world.He/she pointed out some inconsistencies with the messaging around the fsinsider site that I think ought to be addressed. Now, finding the *time* to address them is another issue. :)Cheers,JasonPSI don't unfortunately have the time (or energy!) to post here often, so don't look for me here very much, but please do checkout our various blogs if you have any interest. Most of us are part of the MSDN or Technet sites sponsored by Microsoft. My moniker over there is "pixelpoke."

November 4, 200520 yr Jason, you're right. That was a bit of an attack. So I offer the following with honesty, sincerety and integrity:MGH, I appologize for singling you out. You have every right to your opinions as do we all. And perhaps paranoia is a good thing in certain circumstances. Like they say, just because you're paranoid doesn't mean there's no-one following you!So, I'm sorry for that, mgh, if I offended you in my post. I was only trying to make light of, what seems to me, a silly situation. On a side note, Jason, if the results of your "alien construction" can lead to your talents, may I not also be assimilated? This body isn't bragworthy anyway.:-lol-Jeremy BurchThe Ozark Dogfighter http://forums.avsim.net/images/wedge.gifHappy Flying! I truly believe they would actually do that ROFL.

And I keep wondering -- we keep fighting for aviation to make things LIGHTER and yet the Borg make 1 square inch of their cubes weigh a ton . . . . YES! THAT must be what the holdup is!!! The 777 is actually a Borg construct and they are working on compacting the materials as we speak!!!!!For thsoe of you who do not watch Star Trek -- forget you read this. For those that do - LOL - I hope you get the joke :-)Still looking forward to this contest :-) I talked to me college teachers and they said I could also hand a copy of my story in for my next essay project :-)I love killing two aliens with one stone. I omit "birds" because I am a tree hugging dirt worshipper.<> Because huked on foniks nevure weely wurked fer me.
November 4, 200520 yr PixelPoke and JeremyThanks for your remarks about me. No offence taken. I'm old enough and ugly enough to accept them in the forum's spirit of debate. However, the reasons that caused my doubts still remain. In my view, the quality of the FSInsider site falls well below that of other Microsoft sites. Pixelpoke from MSFT accepted that that there are valid issues that need to be addressed. There is also the question why the 777 Challenge was launched with generally meaningless conditions, no return address, and a tight deadline when there was no obvious need for such a deadline and when, as has now emerged, the team didn't have everything in place to support it. The end result is a postponement to an unspecified date. Truly a "fiasco" as PixelPoke put it.None of this has enhanced Microsoft's or the MSFT's image. Maybe MSFT should stick to its day job of developing FS and leave websites and challenges to others, especially when "finding the *time* to address them is another issue"? Gerry Howard
November 4, 200520 yr LOL I never had a good image of Microsoft anyway -- only thanks that they created FS :-)Funny this debat should start then my college ENG 121 class starts debate. Tis the season for opinions it seems.
