I fly a real 300 CBi and was delighted with Just Flight's sim. I've been using it now for a couple of years with no real problems. But in the last few days the altimeter has not been reading correctly. It seems to be showing 1/3 of my "real" height AGL, its rate of change during climb and descent is too slow and I notice on setting QFE that the altimeter's needle moves much slower than it did before. Have I upset a setting somewhere? Or need to look at somethong else? I can handle flights without the altimeter but that's hardly realistic.

Have you somehow managed to set it to metric so it's registering in metres and not feet? (The 1/3 of what it should be reading led me to this). You got a Russian Kamov replacement altimeter fitted at the last overhaul??

How old is the CBI you fly in r/w? If it was built before 2011, my name is probably in the logbook for the initial altimeter and transponder certification when it was delivered from the factory. I did all the initial altimeter certs for Schweizer Aircraft up until they were purchased by Sikorski and moved the production facility to Coatsville, PA.

I've been troubled greatly by this for several days and you've provided the answer. When I read your reply my first thought was "why didn't I think of that?" Instead I'd been puzzling over how it could possibly happen because altimeters aren't ever calibrated by the user, they're just set to a pressure. So I couldn't imagine how some sort of adjustment could be possible but of course you were right; I'd changed settings to metric hoping that would give me mB on the forecast instead of ins Hg. Never thought what else it would do until I got your response. I went back into settings and now the altimeter's working fine. Many thanks.

The helicopter isn'nt mine I just fly it when I can afford the owners fee. But I do have a copy of the flight manual for it, a Hughes 269C-1. The manual was last approved by Gaetano Sciortino, Manager, NYACO, ANE-170, on 19 Nov 2014. But revisions of the manual started Nov 1995 and revision 10 (23 Jul 1999) incorporated a new alternate instrument panel that might have had an altimeter that you had dealings with. Anyway, nice to know that the lovely machine I fly now and then may have a link with someone who was kind enough to make. ontact via AVSIM. All the best.
