Since I've been doing this for too many years, and have seen many addon companies come and go, as well as still being around; it got me thinking. With all of these addon companies having one, two, three, or perhaps six individuals total....Of can't think of ANY off hand, who at one time or another, hasn't had one of their members get really angry with a purchasing simmer........and tell them off. Perhaps even numerous times! :-violin :-violin :-violin L.Adamson

Though I've been sorely tempted by some FSU products in the past, I've resisted purchasing them because of accounts of poor customer service I've heard about them. The experiences people have shared in this thread have convinced me I made the right decision in not doing business with FSD.

OFF TOPIC - Since this is a very hot and busy thread at the moment I must scream for help bcause my topic on all the microsoft forums is being ignored - - - How the bloody heck do you RE-enable the "Always ask before opening this type of file" bit for downloads? Microsoft's help files are about as much help as the President tells the truth . . . not at all . . . I can't download from AVSIM anymore because I came home from work and found out my comp just snags the zips and puts em . . well . . I dont even KNOW where AVSIM downloads are going . . . Thanks, microsoft, you nerds. Now back ON topic . . . .I guess I'll find out if I ver have to reinstall, but my correspondence with FSD has been friendly so far . . . **shrugs**BTW anyone that can answer my dfownload question MANY thanks.

Hey All,I guess I'll share my experience...Nick I believe you and I may have exchanged a few emails a couple years ago - although I could be wrong.I bought two FSD aircraft and was using them in FS2k2 within Win98. I needed to know the settings for repaired prop gearboxes to enter into my Win98 registry as I had figured out how the FSD aircraft "kept track" of time till repairs. I knew that FSD says they don't support Win98 and that was fine - I figured it out mostly on my own and all I wanted was the correct numbers to enter into the registry. This could not in any way be considered supporting Win98 as I was not asking how to do something in Win98 I simply wanted the specific data for the aircraft - data which I believe I had bought and paid for. No help was forthcoming. So I just used big numbers and kept flying the planes. I swore never ever again would I deal with FSD. I even spent some time seeing if I could find an internet better business bureau to complain to as well as trying to find out if I could file a long distance small claims court claim some somewhere. I know that I'd have had no basis but that would not have mattered - to me it would have been worth it simply to haul them in and read those emails to a judge. All these companies need to understand two points.1) Just like in buying a car - service after the sale is everything if you want to keep your customers - even though you don't get an additional dime for providing that support. 2) Reread number 1.Anyway I finally got another computer with a semidecent AMD processor and WinXP. I moved the slave hard drive with FS on it from the old computer to the new and of course all registry entries were gone. I also installed FS9 and started using it. Since the computer was a new box I dreaded even asking FSD for help but after a couple months I did. I got a reply email from the one who had been the most arrogant condescending blankety blank at FSD. When I saw who it was from I didn't even open it for over a week. When I finally did to my amazement it was courteous and helpful. My aircraft were reinstalled, one upgraded and I use them today. End result I'm on the fence about FSD. I'll probably buy another plane from them as they've one coming up that I'm very interested in. We'll see how it goes. YMMV of course.Take Care! -Ed-

Well, this thread has become "let's rant about
