November 28, 200520 yr in relation to this below. The default Cessna 182S aircraft.cfg file shows ATC TYPE as CESSNA and ATC MODEL as C182. The Carenado Cessna 182RG shows ATC TYPE as CESSNA and ATC MODEL as C182R .I have found a website that says that the ATC MODEL C182 is a Skylane and the C182R is a Cessna Does this not mean that the default a/c will be called by ATC as a Cessna Skylane" and the Carenado maodel will be a called a "Cessna Cessna" .I know that the Dreamfleet C310 is acllaed by ATC as a "Cessna Twin Cessna" (which sounds silly to me - is this the way it is in RL?Barry
November 28, 200520 yr I would specify the Carenado ATC_MODEL as C182 to get the correct "Skylane" call. Also, no, in RL the Twin Cessna is just that, Twin Cessna.http://home.earthlink.net/~dawgfighter/sit...es/swvasig1.gif-Jeremy BurchSWVA4806 http://www.virtualswa.com/home.phpThe Ozark Dogfighter http://forums.avsim.net/images/wedge.gifHappy Flying!
November 28, 200520 yr Barry,Check out the following link for ATC Airlines, Types and Models:http://homepages.mcb.net/bones/04fs/download/downloads.htmIf you look at Types under the letter "T", you'll find a TWINCESSNA, with no space between the names. Leave the atc_model blank and I think ATC will call you a "Twin Cessna".Let us know if it works.Regards,JerryH
November 29, 200520 yr You have to remember the atc_type= and atc_model= entries in the aircraft.cfg file are NOT real world entires. They are computer codes to play sound files. They could be 16 digit hex numbers and work just as well.A lot of people forget they are dealing with FS specific codes and try to substitute real world information - which 90% of the time either plays no sound or the wrong sound.Carenado and DreamFleet both seem to have trouble grasping the concept - along with many other manufacturers. The default aircraft have customized codes for the sound which Microsoft wants played. For everything else we are limited to the default sound set or additions from additional voicepacks.Personally I use EditVoicePack - www.editvoicepack.com - because (1) new types and models can be added - and most will match the real world ATC coding, and (2) I can see the default codes and hear the phrases. For many aircraft the type and model will produce something like "Embrarer Embraer Jet"atc_type=Embraeratc_model=E145In that case FS has a neat code which can be used:atc_type=Silentatc_model=E145to produce the sound "Embraer Jet"Always use the code SILENT rather than leaving an entry blank. That tells FS to use the model code should the type code be called by the program. For the C310 I use:atc_type=Silentatc_model=C310and get "Twin Cessna"
