Flightbeam KSFO CDT

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I would have to say that KSFO add on airports are absolutely the worst!  I have had nothing but grief with them ever since I started with FSX in 2011.  I first purchased KSFO Blue Print, but had unfixable fatal error issues and gave up with it. I would get fatal errors with PMDG 747's when loading the fuel.  So,  I replaced it Flightbeam. But with Flightbeam,  I get fatal error takes place when I load FSpassengers.  At first I thought it was FSpassengers, but the fatal error only takes place at KSFO, not at any other add on airport.  KSFO is the only Flightbeam add on I have.    Below is my Crash report:

The AVSIM CTD Guide, page 29, provides probable solutions for the API.dll faulting module.

If you are having problems with FS Passengers (hopefully the latest version), you should post your issue in their forums.  I would think that if FS Passengers was crashing only at FlightBeam's KSFO, we would be seeing a lot more reports of this problem but your issue is the first.  The clue about having the crash only at FlightBeam's KSFO indicates to me high settings.  That airport is not fps friendly unless you have a very powerful system.  The problem with technology today is the fact computers are getting more and more powerful.  This allows developers, like FlightBeam, to provide you with more eye-candy because your most powerful computers can handle it.  It's a good selling point.  Scenery is beautiful and in high definition.  Got lots of airport vehicles running around and they look much better than in older versions.  As I recall, you do not have a very powerful system.  This means you have only one option and that's to turn off all of the eye-candy at KSFO PLUS lower your settings.

Best regards,

Jim

Jim,

Hi. I bought a new HP Z240 with a 4.2 GHz processing system. My old computers hard drive was dying out. I would think this problem would be fixed. But still the same problem, and only at KSFO for some reason. I had to re-purchase FS Passengers because the one on my old computer would not transfer over. I could not get my password to work with The Flightsimestore where it was purchased around 2013 and could not get my password reset to retrieve my old serial number, AND, I would not get any reply emails from them. So I bought FS Passengers again, but from The SimMarket, where my password works. It is strange I don't have this issue with FSDT KLAX, KJFK, KDFW, but only KSFO, and the other add on airports. I also checked my FSX settings. I don't have anything set on high for vehicles or air traffic. Vehicles is at only 10% and air traffic at 48%.

Another thing I noticed when I repurchased FS Passengers, the Level-D767 and PDMG 777 engines will not fully spool when I start them , just barely about 1/4 through and then it stops at the first engine start up.  . Another new problem to deal with as well. I have not been able to post in FS passengers because my password has not been working there either, and the password resets are not working. It is only at the Flightsimstore and FS passengers where passwords are an issue for some reason.

Hi Cray,

Just want to make sure you have FS Passenger's 2016.  Previous versions were buggy but the developer released a new version around the beginning of the year - FS Passengers 2016.  If you had the old version, I doubt the passwords from the old version would work with the new version. You indicate you purchased the product around 2013 but there is a more later version and why I ask.

There was no need to to go to FSS and download the product again or buy another version from SimMarket as FSPassenger's has a demo version you can download on their site.  If you like it, you purchase the product and then enter the password in the demo version and it will become a full version.

The LevelD 767 was updated in 2008 for FSX with the installation of SP2a; however, prior to installing SP2a, you had to have at least FSX SP1 installed.  Since you have a new computer, I'm wondering if you upgraded the 767.  Cannot tell you why the 767 and 777 engines do not spool properly.  I do not recall anyone else reporting this problem.  I'm sure there are many who own the PMDG 777 and FS Passengers.  Again, you need to make sure you have the proper version of FSPassengers and LD767.

Happy New Year Cray!

Jim,

Happy New year!

I did purchase FS Passengers 2016.   As as far as the spooling problem, it is not occuring now for the Level-D 767 and started up normally.  I tested the 777 and it also spooled okay after selecting "Ctrl E".  I did not do anything differently and it seemed to fix itself, unless it depends on the airport, but I would not see how.   It is odd that I only get fatal errors at KSFO add ons because I did several flights the past few days with add on airports at other locations,  mainly FSDT airports and I did not get any fatal errors when using FS Passengers.   The frame rates are great with my new computer and I don't get any freeze ups too.

Sincerely,

Cray

Hi Cray,

I have a fairly high-powered computer too and get some issues with fps after a flight lasting a little less than 2 hrs.  But never a CTD.  FlightBeam KSFO uses the latest GSX technology and animated jetways using SODE (think it means simobjects display engine).  That could be taking up some resources too.  I see that was loaded in your crash report.  I wish I could help you pinpoint why fsx crashes just at KSFO but there are just so many possibilities.  You are running Windows 7 so it cannot be Windows 10.  You did install FSX in the default folder and the experts do not recommend that as you get permission problems.  Make sure UAC is disabled and you have gone to your main FSX folder and right clicked fsx.exe and selected Properties.  Once open, click on the compatibility tab and look all the way down and make sure it says fsx will run with admin privileges for ALL users, not just you.  Make sure none of the items above this are checked and that will really mess FSX up!  If you have issues, see page 11, AVSIM CTD Guide for an image and directions.

Best regards,

Jim

Hi Jim,

I have not made any attempts lately with the Flightbeam KSFO to check on any CTD's.  I have not done any long flights since I set up my new computer,  and so far everything runs okay for any 3 hours or less flights.  Today, I attempted a flight with a Level-D 767 from KJFK to PHNL.  When I was at decent and about 20 miles from approach to PHNL,  I got a CTD after 11 hours of flying.  This is not the first time I got a CTD going to Honolulu while getting pretty close the the airport with the distance about 20 miles, whether it be a Level-D 767 or a PMDG 777 or 747.  Sometimes I might make it, sometimes not, but mostly not.  I did notice though on a lot of these CDT's,  it usually will happen if I get a command from FSX ATC and when I click to reply quickly,  it will freeze for a few seconds, than the CTD takes place.  and always if I am close to the airport.  I wonder if I wait a few seconds before responding if that may stop the CTD from taking place?  Just a thought.  But these only will happen if on long over seas flights, not any short domestic flights.  But PHNL is the worst for CTD's from my own experience.  I do have a  FSDT PHNL add on airport.

Hi Cray,

Flying for 11 hours is crazy in flight simulation IMHO.  Your chances of having any virtual address space (VAS) that Windows gives you is slim as FSX is resources intensive and the faster computers are able to eat up those resources just a bit faster.  FSX has a lot of textures to load and I just do not think it is possible to maintain VAS in FSX or P3D after a flight as long as 11 hours.  Sure, some people do it.  You did it.  But it is all dependent on what's loading those 11 hours and what's at the end of the 11 hours.  It is not enjoyable whatsoever to fly for 11 hours plus and crash at the end.  So I think it is wise to keep you flight plans to 3 hours or less.

Best regards,

Jim

I don't think so, and I am unsure whether the speed of the computer has any bearing. It all depends on what gets loaded, and whether the add-ons are getting released properly. Here's a 10 hour flight flown using the PMDG MD-11, Drzewiecki designs UUEE to FSDT JFK with Drzewiecki's new york scenery as well:

https://www.deltava.org/pirep.do?id=0x133fc3

Yes, I was down to 150MB of VAS left, but if you download the flight profile in Excel and look at the VAS data you see it remain pretty constant over much of the flight until in the NY area. I can get similar VAS issues with a simple 1.5 hour flight from ATL to JFK - between ImagineSim's KATL and the FSDT JFK I'm getting VAS sucked up.

Cheers!

Luke

For really long flights,  and if I need to do anything else,  I let it fly auto pilot because 11 hours is too long.  I wait for FSX traffic to tell me to contact a center,  I click the reply to contact them, but do not contact that center they direct me to.  I will then contact them when I am finished doing whatever.  I do this because I don't want FSX canceling my flight plan.  I know that is not realistic, but there is no way I could sit at my computer that long.  I may have an errand, need a break, got work to do, etc.  I even may need to take a nap!   It may put me off course a little,  but depending how long I was gone, it may not be much.  The longest flight I did was from Atlanta to Dubai with the PDGM 777, and did not get any fatal errors, and it took 15 hours.  I rarely do long hauls and stick with 5 hours or less flights, but sometimes, and if I have the time, like to do an overseas flight.
