So far the readings were always close, but I'll try the new one. I am not an fps chaser, anything steady above 30 is fine for me.

I'm a Rift owner/user, so fps are going to be a constant concern from now on, especially when/if higher resolution HMD's arrive.  :Nail Biting:

Plus, I could use the extra headroom. Right now I tend to avoid clouds in XP because I want the fps for other things.

That's keeping me from trying VR. If fps are a concern with a rig like yours, then.....

Well 3D means the computer has to render the image twice, which in worst case scenarios sometimes requires close to 200Fps in 2D to maintain a steady 90Fps in 3D.

That's going to probably require even heftier hardware than mine eventually when true 4K headsets arrive, unless they can find some clever ways to reduce the processing requirements, like some of the eye-tracking software/hardware that's being looked at. (only shows full rez at the point you are looking at at any given moment)

Come to think of it, that sort of tech could be possibly very good for FSX and Xplane. I bet using something like Tobii, you could even do that with a regular monitor!

What an interesting hardware/software problem that would be.
