AI traffic: Very few landings

Featured Replies

Hello everybody,I'm having a problem with my ai traffic, which I have collected from all over the net.I thought I was familiar with most of the ai traffic related problems, but here's one I could not solve:While I'v o got many ai planes sitting at the gates and many take-offs, there are only very few landings, even at the big airports like EDDF, LFPG, KJFK. I know that the ai traffic engine takes some time to get the planes to the airports, but even after an hour or so, incoming planes are only few and my airports are slowly getting deserted.Different Afcad files don't seem to solve the problem. Can anybody help, please? Thanks very much,Alex

Jim,thank you very much for your reply, but I'm not using AIsmooth. The only tool I use for my AI is the FS9Configurator which I use to adjust ai taxi speed in oder to make the planes clear the runways faster.

have you manually added your AI traffic? if you have, go to the aircraft.txt files and change the speed to 200 or below.

What uou need to do is goto Project AI web site and download the @ symbol installer.2. Add the @ symbol to each FP and compile.3. Change the AC airspeed to 200. recomplie.Bill M

There are 2 options with flightplans1) The plan specifies a take-off time but lets FS9 calculate the landing time using the cruise speed2) The plan specifies a take-off time and uses the @ sign to force the flight to land at a specified time.Bearing in mind AI doesn't follow proper routes but goes in a straight line from airport to airport and should really allow for slower speeds during climb and descent, Option 2 is more accurate if you want to see a favourite flight landing at your favourite airport at exactly the right time.If option 1 is used, the aircraft cruise speed should be set at a real-life number for ground speed - 430 looks OK for a jet. If option 2 is used, the cruise speed must be set to an artificially low number (200 is usually specified), otherwise chaos ensues as the flight wants to arrive at a different time to the one allotted to it and maybe then it doesn't appear at all.So it's not an issue with the aircraft, it's an issue with the type of flightplans you have.I see you have collected flightplans from a variety of sources - so have I - but it's a shame MRAI closed its doors as that was a highly reliable and comprehensive source with an installer which dealt with the @ issue automatically!!All this is second hand info, but it does seem to be the received wisdom.Whether it's the cause of your problem I don't know. What time of day are you flying at? Certainly the MRAI flightplans (which are the backbone of my set-up) are accurate enough that the airports are full of parked aircraft at night, the stands are less full after a morning rush of departures and then there are more arrivals than departures in the evening as the "home" airlines return to base - just like real life in fact!

I had the same problem.Planes did not land, they suddenly appeared directly at the gate without real landing. It was due to the @ symbol that was specified in the landing time! This symbol forces the plane to arrive at the specified time. When you remove the @ sign, the compiler computes itself the landing time and the plane does a real landing.Guy

At first I'd like to thank everybody for all those valuable contributions to the topic. Your are very much welcome!I am using PAI flightplans (installed with the PAI installer) as well as other flightplans collected from the net and added manually with ttools. It seems to me that the solution Guy proposed suits me best. Is there a possibility to remove/add the @ signs quickly?Kind regardsAlex

If I remember well I used Wordpad.Replace ",@" by "," .Guy

If you want to add or remove the "@" to your fp's, use this tool, works great.Look in the projectai library for file name AT SYMBOL.zip

Yeah, it's working!!After removing the @ symbol, I've got plenty of arriving traffic, thanks very much everybody! :)There is yet a minor drawback, quite a few planes seem to land short of the runway while others of exactly the same model land perfectly. But I'm happy anyway, the whole airport life is much more realistic now.Happy greetings fromAlex
