Such A Shame

Hi everyone and Happy Holidays.Just wanted to let you know that I decided to buy the Ariane 737-700 VceV2 and Easyjet expansion pack for Christmas. It came to

No news here about Ariane. I am not about bashing someone at all, but I strongly feel that a company like Ariane should be put out of business. It is not about the prize of the product or even the quality of the product, but it is, because of the constant hassles with their 'customer support' that is being reported all over the place.I have sent an email to Ariane a few weeks ago inquiring about the prizing structure, because their advertising about their "promo" is certainly misleading (and maybe illegal), because it states on the "News" page in very fine letter that the "promo" release is a time-limited demo (for GBP30?), while there is no mention on it on the product page to purchase. Sure enough, I didn't receive an answer. Also, take a close look on their "Administration" page and study those additional "fees". They charge GBP25 just to re-send your order. This is certainly enough for me to NEVER buy anything from this company, because this has nothing to do with good business practice, love and passion for the hobby, but being pure GREEDY.Enough said. I really didn't want to get into another Ariane bashing thread, but their business practices just make my vein in my neck stand out.Pat

Well I've learnt my lesson from them they wont be selling me anything again and ive just rung mastercard and stopped my payment, lets see how they like that. All the best for a happy new year everyoneRichard

There are several developers that have a reputation for poor customer support with many people. This has been the case for a very long time.Individuals are powerless to do anything about it. It's a bit like a world wide issue such as poverty which can only be really addressed if governments intervene. So why can't, or don't, the BIG people in the flight sim business do something about this problem. They have the clout, we don't.David

Well I just got off the phone to Mastercard and they cant stop the transaction going through so thats me out of pocket. Nice one P.T. have a shocker of a New Year!Richard

Every credit card company that i know offers a charge-back. I'd be persistent and threaten them to close the account, if they don't. That's why you don't use cash. You'll be suprised how quickly they react. You are able to charge-back for goods/merchandise that has not been received or if you're unhappy with the product and can't resolve the issue with the selling party. Since Ariane failed to respond and there are no other means to contact them, it is your right to get your money back.Gosh, you can buy the PMDG 747 and Level-D 767 combined for the money your paid. You can even throw in the 737PIC (which is excellent, even without the upcoming patch).Pat(Edit for added content)

Richard,How much time has transpired since you first purchased the product? Given that it's the holidays, and that only a handful of MSFS vendors provide true 24x7 support, have you allowed enough time for effective communication to take place? Last, please watch how you descibe anyone whether they be a vendor or member of this forum. It's OK to be upset, but it's not OK to risk libel against someone.-John

I don't mind risking a little libel if it gets the addon developer's attention. I bought the Ariane 737 Business Jet myself, but couldn't get it to work; emails to Ariane went unanswered, or were replied to in their usual "read the #### manual" fashion. The kind of rudeness I'm accustomed to from previous interactions. So, I did the sensible thing: I just deleted the crap off of my harddrive. Instand peace of mind. The "we're on holidays" is really becoming a poor excuse for not delivering what customers pay for. What I find especially funny is that my money is withdrawn instantly from my account, doesn't matter whether it's Christmas, Easter, Ramadan, or whatever. ricardo

Ricardo wrote"I don't mind risking a little libel if it gets the addon developer's attention." Perhaps you don't mind, but the thousands of members who read MSFS forums do. Imagine they were all shut down with lawsuits caused by loose lipped comments made by forum members towards vendors, fellow members, etc. There are some comments which cannot be allowed and those who post or encourage them will be held accountable. Ariane seems to be one of the favorite punching bags in these forums, but the issue is beaten to death. Their business model is well known and I cannot believe anyone purchasing their products today is doing so completely ignorant of how they handle support. To my knowledge they have managed to fix registration issues for all their customers who have had them. I don't know whether the average is hours, days or weeks, but that's neither here nor there. What the forum doesn't need is a long, drawn out discussion on this vendor. This thread started out on the "wrong foot" as far as I am concerned, and now will be locked.-John
