February 25, 20179 yr Per Robert's suggestion, I decided to crack open the FCOM and work my way through the expanded Normal Procedures. Actually quite fun and enlightening. (if you do this just remember the normal checklists are in the QRH). Anyway, at the beginning of section 21 we are advised: Status Display - Check. Verify only expected messages shown and Verify the following are sufficient for flight. Oxygen Pressure, Hydraulic quantity and engine oil quantity. I checked the Operating Limitations section but did not see these values listed and wonder if someone can point me in the right direction. thanks. Mark CYYZ
February 27, 20179 yr Author Bump. Anybody have this info? know where to find in the FCOM or other documentation. I have found this list of limits for the -400F, but not sure if it is accurate or applies to the PAX and other models. http://b747400.com/pdf/limits.pdf Mark CYYZ
February 27, 20179 yr Looked at the FAA Type Certificate Data Sheet, which states: "Fuel/Oil Capacity: See the appropriate Weight and Balance Control and Loading Manual. FAA Approved Weight and Balance Control and Loading Manual: D043U400" Don't know if there's any way to locate that manual. Captain Kevin Air Kevin 124 heavy, wind calm, runway 4 left, cleared for take-off. Live streams of my flights here.
February 28, 20179 yr When checking the HYD quantity look to make sure you do not see an RF indication. If not you should be good. When looking at the OIL quantity low quantity will display the value in Magenta meaning it needs to be refilled while a white number is normal quantity of oil. Check out 7.11.11 in the FCOM for more information. For Oxygen on page 1.60.1 and EICAS advisory message will usually appear when crew oxygen is low. Sean Green
