Which airport sceneries do you recommend?

Featured Replies

I've quite a few already, and I must say that the ones from FlyTampa are the only ones which create a feeling of "being there" for me. Their textures are outstanding! Are there any others comparable with the quality FlyTampa delivers?Sure, others I have are nice as well, but my experience so far is that FlyTampa's stand way out. One reason for me that I'm still not convinced of the new Frankfurt of Charles de Gaulle aerodromes...Andreas

Andreas,I have FlyTampa Dubai and also the new Frankfurt mega airport. FPS hit at EDDF is unbelievably small for such a complex airport. I routinely fly there and even with 100% AI and heavy weather (cloud distance at 30 miles) I never get into single digits on approach and landing. Mind you, at rush hour there are well over 100 AI at or around EDDF!! Reduce the AI percentage a bit and FPS are comfortably around 20. Frankfurt is one of those add-ons that really feels alive. Dense traffic on the highway below as you approach rwy 25, trucks, busses and whatnot scuttling around the airport... textures are sharp, heck, you can even read the traffic signs! Now that I have flown out and into EDDF for a while I can say that for me it's the best airport ever done for FS. As second I would put Rhode Island scenery by FlightScenery. Another that stands out from the rest of the crowd is Rome Fiumicino by Cloud 9. Lovely airport with lots of details, superb taxi- and runway textures and very friendly on FPS. I found out that Rome is in fact my second busiest airport by far (data by FSFK, of course). I have a feeling that EDDF will soon surpass it, tho. So, if you're after good airports, get the Mega Frankfurt, Rhode Island and Rome Fiumicino. In that order. :) You won't regret it in my opinion. I have an Athlon 3500+ and Radeon X850XT PE with 1Gb RAM.And just for the record, I am in no way affiliated with Aerosoft, Cloud 9, FlightScenery or FlyTampa, just a satisfied customer. :)Regards,Jure

I second Jure's recommendations. Fly Tampa produce sceneries of exceptional quality. From the preview pics of KPDX, I'd say Flight Scenery are going to be the guys to watch.Adam

FlyTampa sceneries are probably the best looking, and have the best frame rates.SimFlyer's airports are good looking, but they will kill your FPS. While I am looking forward to SimFlyer's upcoming KMSP, I fear that the frame rate hit will kill it for me. (And I don't have a weak machine- AMD FX-55, 2GB DDR-400 [2-2-2-5], WD Raptor 74GB drives x2, Audigy 2zs, ATI X800-XT PCI Express, Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe Mobo).
