F1 MD-80

I am interested in this aircraft but I have been holding off in case there was a patch needed. I have no problem with needing a patch most complicated add-ons needing a little tweaking. Is there something forthcoming? How does it compare to the DF727 which is a great airplane? Any words of wisdom would be appreaciated. Thanks

I bought it when it was released and am very happy with it. Espen released an update which addressed most of the issues which seemed to crop up after beta testing. I find it a pleasure to fly as well as challenging. It has a semi-automated navigation system which is reliant on FS flightplans. It hand flys well, has all of the usual systems modeled and I can not think of any weak points or failures in its presentation. There is an evergrowing number of liveries available on the dedicated forum. Support for the product is handled quickly and professionally by the designer and a first rate group of users from the beta testing phase of the product.Flight1 offers a 30-day, no questions asked, refund policy. Buy it. I don't think you'll need to take advantage of their policy.Jim Karnhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/pmdg_pf.jpg

Thanks Jim. Yes I do love that policy but as you say most products from F1 are top notch and the refund is not needed but a great policy non the less. I have a feeling this is going to be a great product but like I said just want to wait for the small points that usually crop up to be tweaked. It sounds as though that has been done.

Hi,I have the F1's MD-80 and right now really enjoy it. Compared to DF727 it is on par. However, this plane is more automated but nowhere near the point of modern airliners. Panel is sharp and crisp, the VC is very immersive (the night lighting is fantastic!), the model is also very good. The training programs that come with are fantastic and give a hands on approach to learning the aircraft which I enjoyed. The only issues I have right now is the VC load time which is being sorted out, and a few autopilot irregularies ever once and a while (but it could be my fault, the autopilot is kind of different from what I am use to). Overall fantastic plane with great support from the developers.David

I really enjoy it. Right now it has a few little problems, like a couple of the knobs act strange. Except for that, it truly is excellent and one of my favorite to fly. It does indeed rank up there with the DF727.It is automated, however it does not have an FMC but rather separate little devices to fiddle with to produce the same results. The trim calculator built into the pedestal is clever. It has a really neat menu system to set up your flight. It works with FSPassengers when you download a payload model for it.If you like the DF727 you'll like this one!
