Converting effects textures from FSX to FS2004: Is it possible?

Featured Replies

Hello Folks!

Is there any tutorial regarding converting effects or any texture from FSX to FS2004? Wich programs can I use to convert textures? I have Gimp2 and DXTBmp.

Hi Joseph29 and thank you!

I'll check it.

Hi Joseph29!

Is it to convert AI aircraft textures only? I'd like to convert effects textures.

I don't know, I never tried to convert effect textures before. I think it might work, I have used that tool to convert textures for AI and flyable planes. I don't think it would hurt to try.

Hi Claudio, some effects seem to want dxt1 no alpha channel textures in a specified size and will CTD if the texture is in wrong format, but you can edit the size using MS Paint, Photoshop etc. using dxtbmp which you can also use to save in dxt1 format.

Other effects you can use different sizes (must be no larger than 1024 x 1024 pixel though) and formats so you probably can convert them directly from FSX.
